SEC matchups for Saturday

OLE MISS (6-4, 3-3 SEC) AT LSU (7-3, 3-3)

Time: 3:30 p.m. TV: WVLT.

Skinny: Ole Miss is coming off its most complete game of the season, a 59-0 rout of Louisiana-Monroe. LSU is coming off its most impressive half of the season in a school-record comeback against Troy. The winner will be the favorite for the SEC’s Cotton Bowl slot.

Key Players: LSU’s Charles Scott is one of three SEC players averaging more than 100 yards rushing per game. Ole Miss quarterback Jevan Snead has plenty of targets. Shay Hodge, Michael Wallace and Dexter McCluster rank in the SEC’s top 10 in receiving yardage per game.

Line: LSU by 4.

ARKANSAS (4-6, 1-5 SEC) AT MISSISSIPPI STATE (3-7, 1-5)

Time: 2:30. TV: None.

Skinny: Tennessee’s offense might not be the only one to get a coach fired. Mississippi State’s offensive woes have coach Sylvester Croom and offensive coordinator Woody McCorvey on the hot seat. Arkansas still has a shot at becoming bowl eligible.

Key players: If the SEC gave an award for the most improved player, Arkansas quarterback Casey Dick would be the favorite. Dick ranks second in the conference in passing yards per game. Freshman tight end D J Williams ranks second in pass receptions per game. Mississippi State linebacker Dominic Douglas is the SEC’s second-leading tackler.

Line: Arkansas by 1.

THE CITADEL (4-7) AT FLORIDA (9-1)

Time: 1:30. TV: PPV.

Skinny: The SEC stats speak volumes about Florida balance and dominance. The Gators lead the league in points per game, fewest points allowed, pass efficiency, rushing, interceptions, punt-return average, punting and field-goal percentage. Although The Citadel has lost six of its last seven games, it shouldn’t look any more overwhelmed than most SEC teams do against the Gators.

Key players: Wide receiver/running back Percy Harvin was the Gators’ primary ball carrier in their rout of South Carolina. He’s averaging 9.2 yards on 52 carries. Tim Tebow, who leads the SEC in pass efficiency, is making a late charge for another Heisman Trophy.

Line: None.
