MISSISSIPPI STATE (4-7, 2-5 SEC) AT OLE MISS (7-4, 4-3)
Time: 12:30 p.m. TV: MyVLT2
Skinny: Ole Miss is the frontrunner for the SEC slot in the Cotton Bowl. Today’s 81st Egg Bowl is the best the Bulldogs can do. Since losing by four points to Alabama, the Rebels have won four consecutive games and have scored 90 points in the last two. Mississippi State is coming off a 31-28 victory over Arkansas after scoring 37 points in its three previous SEC games.
Key players: Ole Miss tailback Cordero Eason is averaging 87.8-yards rushing over the last four games, and quarterback Jevan Snead is second in the SEC with 19 touchdown passes. Snead took a hard hit on his right (throwing) shoulder last week against LSU but threw effectively in practice this week. Mississippi State All-SEC safety Derek Pegues will end his career as the conference’s career leader in kickoff returns and kickoff return yardage. Linebacker Dominic Douglas leads the SEC in tackles.
Line: Ole Miss by 16.
LSU (7-4, 3-4 SEC)
AT ARKANSAS (4-7, 1-6)
Time: 2:30 p.m. TV: WVLT
Skinny: You knew LSU could have quarterback problems this season. But how could you have foreseen the collapse of a defense that figured so prominently in LSU’s 2007 national championship? The Tigers rank 11th in the SEC in scoring defense and 10th in total defense. There’s nothing surprising about the Razorbacks’ first season under coach Bobby Petrino. They’re last in the SEC West, which is where they were projected in preseason.
Key players: Despite LSU’s quarterback issues, wide receiver Brandon LaFell leads the SEC in pass receptions per game. Fellow wide receiver Terrance Toliver has had 12 catches in the last three games after catching only six passes in the first eight games. LSU’s only healthy quarterbacks are freshman starter Jordan Jefferson and walk-on T.C. McCartney, Arkansas star tailback Michael Smith isn’t expected to play because of a hamstring injury. Nathan Dick will make his second start at quarterback in place of his brother, Casey Dick, who ranks second in the SEC in passing yards per game.
Line: LSU by 4 1/2.

Les Miles will be on a short leash, next year LSU will have a large buyout.

Look for a new DC at LSU. We better hope the Chief doesn't wind up there

one win vs vandy and everyone is forgetting how bad this tn team is. we'd have been better off punting on 1st down in the 2nd half vs vandy. im as hopeful as anyone that fulmer leaves on a high note, but this offense is bad... i mean real bad. all ky has to do to beat us is not throw the ball to eb.
