The Tennessee women's volleyball team closed out the regular season in dramatic fashion Friday night.
The Lady Vols came from behind for a 21-25, 26-24, 22-25, 25-21, 16-14 victory over No. 17 Kentucky before a crowd of 3,021 at Memorial Coliseum in Lexington, Ky.
Tennessee (22-9, 15-5 SEC) scored its first win over a ranked team since beating then-No. 18 LSU on Oct. 12 last season.
"That was the most fun that I have had coaching a volleyball match in a really long time,'' UT coach Rob Patrick said. "I've never had a team have to give so much for so long as this team has this season.
"Six weeks ago, we were 10-8 and 4-4 in conference. Since then, every player on our team has made a commitment to do what was necessary to get us to this point."
UT's Nikki Fowler had a season-high 24 kills against Kentucky (26-5, 17-3).
