'Baller Vol' ... It's the rap of Woolridge
Young Vol writes about teammates
Tennessee freshman men's basketball player Renaldo Woolridge hasn't wasted any time showing his talents go beyond the floor.
Woolridge, son of former NBA All-Star Orlando Woolridge, released the song "Baller Vol'' on his myspace page on Monday. It can also be heard in this YouTube video.
"I mention all of the players' names in the song,'' Woolridge said. "I've written seven songs since I've been here, including "Baller Vol.''
Woolridge, a 6-foot-8 forward from North Hollywood, Calif., has been rapping since he was 10 years old.
"I would rap at talent shows,'' he said. "My aunt is in the business, and they needed a kid's voice for a Skippy Peanut Butter rap for a commercial.
"I did it for fun and fell in love with it.''
Woolridge started doing more with music with his friends and made his label: "Swiper Boyz Entertainment.''
Woolridge also has put out a YouTube video featuring himself with teammate Emmanuel Negadu.
UT junior college transfer Bobby Maze was the first of the new players to break out a rap when he performed "I put on for Tennessee" in a YouTube Video.
