Vols tied for lead at Wolf Pack Classic

The Tennessee men's golf team is tied with New Mexico State for first place after the first day of the Wolf Pack Classic, being played a Wolf Run Golf Club in Reno, Nev.

The Vols shot a 1-over-par 289 in Monday morning's opening round and followed with a 9-under 279 in the second round.

Arizona is in third place, one stroke off the pace.

UT senior Chris Paisley is tied for the third in the individual standings at 5-under 139. Paisley opened with a 69 and shot a 70 in the second round.

Robin Wingardh is tied for 18th at 143. He recovered from a 77 to shoot a second-round 66.

Cameron Lawrence and David Holmes are tied for 22nd at 144. Darren Renwick is tied for 48th at 150.

The final round is today.

In other news:

n Tennessee's Boris Conkic beat TCU's Emanual Brighiu 6-3, 7-6 to reach the second round of qualifying at the ITA All-American Championships tennis event in Tulsa, Okla.

n Tennessee Lady Vols assistant soccer coach Keeley Dowling was the first pick of the second round by New Jersey/New York in the Women's Professional Soccer draft.
