I went to the UGA game 2 years ago when we hung 50 on them. I went again Saturday....IF we had 1000 fans there I'd be surprised. Coach, even your most loyal fans are quitting on you and I think your team is doing the same.

get out of here tubby and let tn get some new blood in here

Coach chose to punt on 4th and short late in the game... through in the towel. Just like he did at Bama last year TWICE. Also, against Auburn, several times, on AUBURN's SIDE OF THE FIELD.
The common denominator?? The UT D was becoming ineffective. IT DID NOT MATTER it the other team had a 'short field' or not, UT's D wan't stopping snyone.
Phil talks about 'change', but he's gotten more conservative than ever. conservative may play well with southern voters, but it does NOT win football games in the SEC.
Sheepscape writes:
The fact that Spence of Clemson was the other offensive coordinator finalist along with Clawson indicates to me that Fulmer is no better a judge of coaching talent than he is of QB talent. He has proven that Crompton should not have been our starter this year and it is bearing out that our entire offensive system is poor.
tennisvol writes:
Fulmer apparently wants to do what is best for himself. There comes a time when you have to do what is best for the program at TN and that time has come for Phil. Time to step down and finish out the season as the coach at Michigan did last year.

Reality sets in..VOLS in danger of going 5-7 for the second time in a few years with a 10 year drought of no SEC champ or BCS bowl bid. Fulmer gets an extension and will be back next year. That's the reality. We can moan and groan all we want, but Fulmer giving a million dollar donation was no accident. Fulmer pretending everything is fine is no accident. He knows he has Hamilton right where he wants him and next year will be the same old. In the meantime, the rest of the SEC is breathing a sigh of relief for every year that Fulmer stays. They love it that Tennessee keeps Fulmer and they actually brag about it while VOL fans wallow in self pity that they are powerless to do anything about it. But they sure will pile up on the bus and head to the stadium no matter what the record. Bottom line, if you want to make a statement, if you want change, if you really want a voice, hit them in the wallet where it hurts the most..STOP BUYING and GOING!

I agree with first paragraph. It was clear that we had to go for it during the UGA game or we were toast. HOw bout a fake punt? Flea flicker? Any other desperation play would be fine too. We're desperate.

Clawson (scapegoat) to be fired this week and Fulmer wins all but alabama..then wins peach bowl to get his 8th win and automatic contract extension. Thank u Mr hamilton

A new OC, 2 green QB's. People didn't we all see that this was going to be a struggle this year on offense. I totally believe in Coach Fulmer. Remember in 96 when Bama started their reVOLving door of coaches. 12 years later they've finally come around to prominence. Getting rid of CF would be a grave mistake!
9krpms writes:
I would like to see a coaching change, but I'm definitely affraid of pulling a "Michigan". I think Fulmer is here through 2011, unless he chooses to step down and not make UT buy out his contract. We're almost officially a basketball school now, wow!

They will not fire him. In a year or 2 everybody will be back on the band wagon. Fair weather fans make me sick. And Fulmer being fired is your opinion. I don't think your a drunk for expressing that. Have alittle class!

If you haven't noticed, we've already got a foot in said grave.

Clemson just fired Tommy Bowden! will Mike Hamilton follow suit before Clemson get first pick of top canidates??

I'll meet you halfway Jo. I think Fulmer will win all but Bama. Miss ST is pathetic and Vandy is starting to play like Vandy again. I don't, however, believe we'll win a Peach Bowl irregardless of whom we play. No contract extension, but he's good through 2012. Man, I can't STAND the idea of rooting against the Vols on Saturday but if Mississippi State could find a way to beat us things might actually change. If we beat MS, Vandy, and KY I seriously doubt they will.

NEWSFLASH!!!
We are sunk. We have reached the point of no return. Why? Because people are now announcing UT tickets to 'give away' on the swap & shop radio show.
Timed_vol (Inactive) writes:
wizard, I felt that way too last year, when Adams was fussing.
Here is why I think Phil needs to go: he doesn't hvae the nerve, nor the knack, for making the big decision in the game. He is playing NOT TO LOSE, rather than to win.
Our ball is not exciting to watch, no thrill in the games.
I can take losing, but I won't to lose with honor. I want to leave it all out there. Why in the hell did Phil punt 4th and short?? We had NOTHING to lose.
Also, ref back to Auburn, UCLA, bama last season...he is NOT PLAYING TO WIN.
Dammit, Phil, your job is toast if you DO NOT GET a FIRE IN YOU!!!!!
VOLHbomb writes:
PHIL YOU SUCK!!!!!! GET MUSCHAMP NOW! NOW! NOW! LET's be proactive....NOT REACITVE to the situation at hand. EVERYONE WRITE LETTERS, don't go to the games. My wife and I are giving up our bama tickets to bama fans and everyone else should either NOT GO TO ANY GAMES, or give them away to opposing fans. WE HAVE TO MAKE A STATEMENT! Anyone know how many were actually at the Northern Illinois game?
WeLoveTennesseeVols writes:
As a psychologist i find two areas for Fulmer to improve in. Acting on the calling of the referees, and creating respect in the fan base. If this ref is calling 'em that way, play to his play calling without his knowing about it. And if the fans want to go for 4 and inches from out 24 yard line. Just go for it!!
VOLSFAN4563 writes:
Maybe Mike Hamilton needs to look at what the Clemson AD just did in firing Tommy Bowden. This is after Bowden signed a contract extension last year at $2.2 million/year with a $4 million buyout. Mr. Hamilton you showed us that you can get a top notch Men's Basketball Coach, maybe it's time to make a similiar change in the football program. Fulmer is not making wise decisions for the program anymore, just look at his hire of OC. The offensive line though experienced is not performing to expectations. The Offensive staff seems bewildered. No conference championships in 10 years and no BCS bowl wins to show. How much more do Vol Fans need to endure.

Hamilton did a great job in getting Pearl for the BB job let's see what he can do for a football program that if left in Fulmer's hands will no longer be a draw to top recruits from around the nation.

I actually heard that broadcast too. I heard that they were actually swapping either a litter of pups or a used car bumper to a 92 Ford Explorer for a pair on the 50. Just letting the folks know.

Giving up your tickets to Bama fans....I bet you have no tickets to give up. I don't care how bad the situation is, a VOL fan would never give tickets to a bama fan nor pull for a loss.
Singaporehillbilly writes:
I will continue to pull for the VOLS and I will be going to the remainder of the home games. I will now buy a couple of extra Petros and smoky dogs.
Sheepscape writes:
Enjoy the gouging then. Prices are higher than they have ever been and the products are worse. The new vendors have something to do with that. Sudesco should have never been given that contract. They run out of hot dogs in some stands before the UF game.
Just another money based decision that robs the common fan of the basic atmosphere.

First of all, Michigan was never as bad as we are now - Nowhere even close; and they did the right thing.
Second, for those judging Michigan after 6 games under Rodriquez you haven't studied your history. It took him 2 full years to install his complex, disciplined system into WVU. He even said on radio this year, to back me up, it will take 2 full years. His team in Morgantown was pushed around year-1; much like Michigan is now. But by year 3, the WVU team was jamming 300 yards rushing per game on everyone (including SEC Champ Georgia) and could not be stopped. You need to wait til year 3 to start doubting him at Michigan.
As for Tennessee, this offense has hardly changed (Phil must have slapped a playbook in Clawson's face and said "learn it or leave"). The sad thing is, with the system minimally changing here (unlike Michigan where it is complete overhaul), the Tennessee offense should at least be winning the line of scrimmage. There is no blocking, no discipline. These are the roots of failure in this game. Sad, but it is what it is.

I will guarantee you those players will never quit on their coach. They have to much pride in the program and themselves. Players that quit are useless. I would bet there isn't a player in that locker room that has quit.
utkedu writes:
I used to go to 1 to 4 games per year and watch every game the I could not attend on TV religiously. If we lost, I was in a bad mood the remainder of the day. Now, I don't go to the games and I don't watch the games. I just wait on the score the next day and root for a loss so we are a step closer to getting rid of Phil. After all, what is left to root for? A December 28th bowl against a directional school? I look forward to a time when I can be excited about this team again, and it won't happen with this coaching staff.
Trooper Taylor, great job of getting out of here while you could. Good luck on the remainder of your season and congratulations on averaging 50 points per game with your offense that just defeated a very strong Mizzou team. Your enthusiasm is missed.
