Johnson returns to practice, Gray still out

Tennessee women’s basketball freshman Glory Johnson returned to practice Thursday but classmate Amber Gray still is on the mend.

Johnson, a 6-foot-3 forward, went out of Tuesday’s workout after banging knees with a teammate. Gray, a 6-1 forward, went down in the same practice after slipping and spraining her left ankle.

UT coach Pat Summitt said Gray’s ankle remains swollen.

“Any time a player has to sit out and they’re a freshman in this program, it’s a bit of a setback,’’ Summitt said. “To her credit, she was over there taking notes.”

The Lady Vols are off until Saturday.
