Rogan suffers injury; UT can't release details

PASADENA, Calif. — Tennessee sophomore cornerback and punt returner Dennis Rogan suffered an undisclosed injury during Monday night's 27-24 loss in overtime to UCLA at the Rose Bowl.

UT coach Phillip Fulmer said after the game he could not comment until receiving clearance for the training staff. It's not clear on what play Rogan was injured. Gerald Jones replaced Rogan as a punt returner.

Hope it ain't serious. GJ looked better returning kicks than Rogan.

GJ's returns were definitely a major plus. He may the man for that job.

I appreciate the warm hearted sentiments of BahamamaVol and Volsbe1. Player got hurt while wearing Orange and White. I thot when he touched ball to try and catch was so it wouldn't end up being downed inside the 5. I know , not a good move being overly proactive like that then.

I hope he has quick recovery to be ready for the Dragons of UAB.

What is seriously hurt is the Vol football program.

The damage being done by this staff (Fulmer and Chavis) is becoming major.

Time for those who care more about the program than the coaches to step up.

I wonder if those booster must be

Hey guys! Look at it this way!! We're on FIRE on the recruiting trail, what with all these 2* and 3* players that are committing!! The future looks bright!!

volsare1, you are a A-1 jerk. This is a 19 year old kid you are talking about. What about Gerald Williams injury?

Another game that falls on Foster's inability to hang on to the football and Chavis's might sit back and let 3rd string qb set back and throw 8 yd pattern underneath and march all the way down field.Always been supporter of Fulmer but if he continues to let Chavis continue this way he needs to go.Be a shame to fire Fulmer just to get rid of Chavis.

FLVol writes:

I agree on Chavis. This has been coming on since after 2005.

I liked Gerald Jones returning kicks...but if anyone can remember that 4th quarter against Vandy last year Rogan saved Tennessee's and Fulmer's butt. Hopefully he gets healthy this week and we can have both Gerald Jones and Dennis Rogan back on kickoffs. For the person who said Jones looked better, he also got a whole lot better blocking than Rogan did. Rogan probably should have just called a lot of fair catches. When Jones goes back to return a kick we actually call a good blocking play on special teams.

How many of you armchair quarterbacks have actually stepped onto a football field as a player and if you did were you good enough to earn a D 1 football scholarship? Dennis Rogan is a young man who has earned his spot on the UT squad. He beat Jones out for the number one retruner spot last year and this year. One mistake and you are ready to sent him down the road? Grow up! This is local kid who contributed to three Class 3A state championships (2003, 2004, 2006) and earned two Mr. Football finalist awards. He is only a sophomore so give him a chance. I hope he is able to return soon to help the Vols.

volalumnus: You have posted several times insinuating that Fulmer is tied to gamblers. If you were Phil, would you seriously put a contract like his on the line for some chump change? Give me a break!

vol4gzus writes:

helment=helmet without the seeds or with them.

On topic, hope Rogan is back for the Dragons on 13th.

pdhuff#552644 writes:

Hope Rogan is ok. Still awaiting that injury report on the biggest hit.

Psyche.

SP
first Im not Phil and 2 you miss the point.
I wonder if that contract was tied to what has certainly been a serious lack of coaching since 2000, yet his contract keeps getting extended and increased.
