Quarterback Jonathan Crompton did not participate in the early portions of Tennessee's football practice open to the media Wednesday. The junior was dressed and wearing a small brace on his right ankle.

Crompton went into the UCLA game with a sore ankle and seemed to further injure it during the second half of the Vols' 27-24, overtime loss.

Sophomore Nick Stephens took the first-team snaps in place of Crompton, who was not walking with any noticeable limp.

Defensive tackle Donald Langley returned to practice following an academic suspension.

More details later online and in Thursday's News Sentinel.
