One goal made a big difference Sunday for the Tennessee women's soccer team.
Julie Edwards' first goal was UT's first since Aug. 22, enabling the Lady Vols to break a three-match losing streak with a 1-0 victory over No. 15 Illinois at the First Tennessee Classic.
Edwards scored from 25 yards out in the 60th minute, ending a scoreless stretch of 349:46 for No. 20 Tennessee (2-3).
"To see Julie come up with a goal was awesome,'' UT coach Angela Kelly said. "She's a very crafty player. She gets involved and is very physical for her size."
Goalkeeper Jaimel Johnson recorded her 17th career shutout, moving her into second on UT's all-time list.
Edwards and teammates Mick Imgram and Alissa VonderHaar made the all-tournament team. West Virginia's Deanna Everrett was named most valuable player.
