Kansas City defensive end Turk McBride, the team’s best pass rusher during the preseason, suffered a bruised spleen during last week’s loss against Oakland.
The former University of Tennessee standout left the game after falling on a Raiders player’s heel, McBride’s weight driving the opponent’s leg into his abdomen.
McBride, a second-year left end, said he hoped to play today against Atlanta but he wasn’t yet certain of his status.
“We’re basically just taking it day by day,” McBride said. “My mind-set is, I’m playing.”
McBride said he vomited blood after suffering the injury. A CT scan initially revealed no damage to his spleen, but a second scan showed swelling to the organ
