Vanderbilt cracked the Associated Press poll at No. 21 and the USA Today coaches' poll at No. 25 today after defeating Ole Miss 23-17 in Oxford on Saturday.

The Commodores are 4-0 for just the fourth time since World War II and are ranked for the first time since 1984 when another 4-0 start led to a No. 19 spot in the AP poll.

Tennessee (1-2) was not included in any of the ballots submitted by AP media members or coaches in the USA Today poll.

It's official. The apocalypse is upon us. Wonder what Johnson's buyout is there...

At least you know you don't have to go through an A.D. to talk to him.

Oh yeah, and "first." The only time all year Tennessee fans get to say "first."

Vandy 4 - 0 and in the top 25. WAKE ME UP FROM THIS NIGHTMARE. HAMILTON HAS GOT TO GO!

Show's what a bunch of guys with good coaching playing smart motivated football can do.

Can't say our guys have been motivated but neither have they been well coached or played smart.

Tennessee teams throughout the years have been known for blocking, tackling, playing smart and excelling in the kicking game.

At this point we've seen little of it. If it does not vastly improve its time for a house cleaning.

Bobby Johnson and Turner Gill should be on the list.

GoVols!

WYLOVER writes:

i'm tired of everyone saying our talent is down and that is why we can't win. LSU and Auburn do not have lights out players at qb and other skill positions but both teams seem to have a knowledge of how to win. we can't win because our coaching staff is looking backwards all of the time. Miles lets his guys put themselves at risk of losing....which is why they win.

We need to get new speed coaches in. Our D is just not quick like it was in the past. Maybe it is taking the wrong angles instead of just lack of speed but something is wrong.

the LSU - Auburn game last night is what the SEC is about. UT should move to the ACC because we are not worthy.

Good for them.

I decided last week that I wasn't going to shave until we won an SEC game. I'm going to look like one of the Oak Ridge Boys by the time I finally get to bust out my razor.

How did Vandy finish in 1984?

CoverOrange writes:

Looking at their schedule and ours it will be nip and tuck as to whether we will have more wins than Vandy will have losses.

Earlier this decade, could anyone have predicted that Vandy would be ranked during the season and Tennessee would not?

Wow. Dern near speechless.

arkyvol writes:

i wonder how many of the contributors would be willing to put serious money on this vol team and its so-called coaching staff against vandy at a neutral site. (before you answer, remember how short handed u.c.l.a. was.)

FedUpVolFan writes:

This tells the story.
"You test someone's maturity level when you go on the road,'' Gators coach Urban Meyer said. "I made the comment to the guys at the hotel last night, I want them to conduct themselves as a professional athlete.

"This is SEC football, it's your job and it's really what your life is about. You're here to get a degree and play college football. ... We take it real serious.''

I listened to Kessling interview Coach in the locker room.Fulmer has no clue what happened.
And Crompton should be apologizing instead of running his big mouth!
Never though I would live to see the day when the Gators have more class than my Vols.
This is sad.
Auburn will destoy us.And Ga,Al,etc,etc.
This is so not fair to the fans!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Im calling the Govenor at home to see if we can set up a
special SPLOST fund to do the house cleaning and new hiring
at UT. Then we would really get to see our tax dollars at work! WOW!! Vandy ranked! UT NOT! That in-itself should spell CHANGE!!!!!!

MidTennVol writes:

Neyland is rolling over in his grave. Vandy ranked and UT not ranked. Maybe we should count this one as a potential loss too. Auburn, Bama, GA, SC and Vandy to add to our two losses for a total of 7.

Of course, all those games are winnnable. But will "that's not us" show up again?

So whos starting the FIRE FULMER campaign or websites??????

Vandy,Kentucky,Alabama,Georgia.Auburn ,LSU and South Carolina are all ranked higher than Tennessee.Yep,Hell has frozen over. What are your thoughts about that Fulmer and company?I thought we were working like heck to go forward instead of backwards. This is a disgrace and I have been one of the idiots that have taken up for Fulmer.I once was blind but now I see.

tvol71 writes:

Good for Vandy. I hope they can get to a bowl this year, though not by beating the Vols, which is certainly possible. And by the way, I thought the defense was the only group that did a fair job in that game, but the line still needs to get more pressure, and the DBs need to quit reading their press that says they are great and cover better.

geniuspearl writes:

general neyland was hired with one charge, "beat Vandy". Looks like UT is right back where they started.

Vol737 writes:

It will be interesting to see the decline in attendance with each loss. After Auburn, we return home against N. Ill. so that will be the first test. After UGA and BAMA get done with us, we're staring 3-5 in the face at that point. So just for fun, let's say after that we go on the road to SC and lose in a 9-7 barn burner! It's possible we could only see 40,000 people in the stands for Wyoming the next week. That might just get the message to Mike Hamilton. Oh man, can you imagine ending the year with consecutive losses to Vandy and KY??! There's no way they do better than 7-5. More probable is 6-6 or 5-7. Good opportunity to improve my golf game on Saturday's for the rest of this season.

knoxtenor writes:

I think that fancy particle accelerator in Switzerland has caused some kind of wormhole and jumped us all into a new, weird quantum reality. How else can you explain the current state of things? Alabama in the top 10? The Vols already with two losses? Vandy being ranked and the Vols not? I suppose the next thing you're going to tell me is that a former Vandy QB is being touted as an heir apparent in the NFL. Please tell me that hippos still can't fly!

Moaninglikeheck writes:
