UT vs. Northern Illinois on pay-per-view

You mean CBS and ESPN didn't want to televise this game? What were they thinking?

If it's in HI-DEF then don't expect many fans to show up.
:)

Who wants to pay for that game?

scootervol2001#385313 writes:

Must be their way of "ensuring" butts will be in the seats. lol If they can't watch it on TV, then they'll HAVE to come watch. There will be no stinking empty stadium! BWAHAHAHAHA!

KennesawVol writes:

Who wants to pay $25.00 to see a train wreck??

knoxtenor writes:

No, no. Y'all don't understand. Fans of NORTHERN ILLINOIS here in Tenn. were probably the ones requesting it be put on pay-per-view. The odds of them winning seem to have gone up recently, for some reason. They smell blood in the water.

If there is 85,000 in the stands i would be suprized and they want people to pay to watch this on TV ?? What a joke!! Gonna get worse before it gets better so be ready to ride the storm out for a few seasons Vol fans

$25 for this mess, just give me 10 and I will come to your house and kick your butt, just get it over with and have enough left over for some pizza!

Assuming the (expected) loss to Auburn I think it might be more like 70-75,000 in the house for N. Illinois.

Philip Fulmer Offered New Job

It was announced today that FEMA has offered Philip Fulmer a position there. A spokesperson for FEMA stated that Fulmer was offered the position after witnessing how he could evacuate 100,000 people from a crowded facility in a fast, calm, and orderly manner on Saturday, September 20th.

imnotwithphil writes:

Maybe they'll put the pay for view package on eBay... if so... my opening bid is $0.01... that's also my final bid.

It would be great if EVERYONE stayed home for N. Ill. Let them play in front of the band and cheerleaders until President Petersen gets the message.

bobbarbilly writes:

BigVol...but they will be back next time giving him time to gain more experience.

BigVolinCarolina... that is absolutely hilarious!!!

Knoxobserver writes:

Why in the world would they put this on PPV? How many do they have to sell to break even? They are going to take a bath on this.

AND... if UT loses this weekend at Auburn, Hamilton will be lucky if he gets 60,000 in the stands against NIU. And that's if NIU sells all 59,000 of their tickets.

spvol writes:

Why Pat Ryan? He SUCKS!

Fulmers 15 year record against second-tier SEC East teams Vanderbilt, South Carolina and Kentucky is 43-2. The game has changed. Fulmer's coaching resumé was padded when the SEC coaching landscape was much different. He beat up on Georgia's Ray Goff and Jim Donnan, both in recruiting and on the field. He had Mike DuBose's number when he headed the program at Alabama. Against the current SEC coaching competition, Fulmer's record is just 28-26. And in matchups with the five SEC coaches who have won national championships or had an unbeaten season — Urban Meyer, Nick Saban, Les Miles, Steve Spurrier and Tommy Tuberville — Fulmer is a combined 10-19.

GoVol writes:

This was announced several months ago, so I'm surprised at some of your comments that make it sound like this is fresh news??????

We need to start and play Nick Stephens in this game. Don't know much about him, but I can't imagine him doing much worse than J.C.

Fulmer should still be running laps for coaching that debacle! FIRE HIM!!

Or just go to a bar/restaraunt that is advertising the game on TV and spend that money on some food and drinks, while remarking on the emptiness of the stadium (definitely gonna be less than 60,000 people) and commenting on the ineffectiveness of our coaching staff.

I cant imagine seeing neyland with 70,000 or less but i hope so because crompton doesnt need fans anyway and maybe that will be enought to get the big pumpkin out of here

At this rate, we'll be lucky to see ANY of our games on TV much less pay-per-view in the furure.

I thought that meant they were going TO PAY ME to view it, cause that is the only way in heck that I will.

Both of them.

I believe the guy who chose to put the Tennessee/Auburn game on CBS at 3:30 instead of the Alabama/Georgia will be personally collecting the money for the N. Illinois game since he no longer has a job at CBS.

They are a ton better than UAB. Might be more than a scrimage as we were told UAB was.

This is a tough team they almost beat Minneasota last week. We will have our hands full but let's concentrate on Auburn for now I think we can take them. We need this win Saturday!

I'm disappointed about the Flordia loss as well but living in this area you must have thick skin. I have to hear about Bama, Arkansas, Ole Miss, LSU, Memphis and even Vandy fans are in this area. Nothing like leaving your house Saturday morning for a Middle School football game and see 10 different college flags flying over everyones car. Coaching and watching my son play helps to ease the pain brought on by the coaching crew in Knoxville. That blown time out call at Half time this past Saturday still burns me- Totally stupid and failure to pay attention. My team would have to do up-downs on the field for 10 minutes. Either execute the play or we will put someone in that will.

What is your goal?
If it is to voice a cry for change then skip the game but watch on TV. I dont think the business end of the operation cares if you leave early. You are just punishing yourself by leaving early.

I have PPV every UT game offered that way since the early 90's regarless of our record or standing. I will NOT be purchasing ANY games PPV any longer until a new staff is running the program, and i hate that. I spend every off season looking forward to kick off. However as mentioned before, the product is not worth it.

AND, it needs to be mentioned that the raycom product is HORRIBLE. There is no excuse for such a poor product on television. There is too much technology to aid in production offered these days.

Also cost, give me a break $25 for a television football game and you cant even read the score clock???

UT should offer all the games for 5 bucks PPV, or the exact cost of first run PPV movies. Those movies are much better quality so why is a raycom game worth so much more??? They'd probably make more money in the end, and the fans deserve it. If Hamilton wants fans back he'd better start doing something for them besides building Million dollar box seats that they arent even allowed to see let alone sit in.

Vandy tickets are very cheap and the product is better.

The really scary part is that Crompton looked much better than Stephens and Coleman in the O&W game.

This team is so incompetent that they can't run most of what Clawson tried to install so they have reverted back to the old, not-so-reliable offense of 25 year old Walt Harris crib notes. Reminds me more and more of Jerry Reed in The Waterboy clutching to his notebook.

$50 single upper deck, only because corporate, students, and season tix owners gave them up. Students you can pay for some yourself also.

Could be some respond better under the stress of competition than others. Stephens may be calm under stress.

What are you nitwitts going to ramble on about when TN beats Auburn? Do you not realize they will ultimately beat AL, SC, Van, KY and Miss State and be 8-4? Look it has been happening for years. No way, no how do they go 5-7 or 4-8. Get over it and get used to Phil being around making more money in a year than you will in a lifetime! Just relax and enjoy the company of the people you watch the games with.
