1. Start Strong: Tennessee has scored a combined 28 points in the first half this season, and they’ve scored first only once. A quick start would go a long way against Auburn. The Tigers have allowed just three first-half points all season.
2. None for Dunn: Auburn’s Robert Dunn is averaging 21.4 yards per punt return and has one for a touchdown (and another called back for a penalty 5 yards behind the play). Another special teams letdown could be disastrous for the Vols.
3. Throw It Around: LSU attacked Auburn’s secondary with great results last week. While Jonathan Crompton hasn’t been consistent in the early going, he’s got the talent to make plays. Tennessee shouldn’t be afraid to throw the ball against Auburn.
4. Line Up: Tennessee’s offensive line will have its hands full with Auburn’s defensive front, one of the SEC’s best. How the Vols are able to manage Antonio Coleman, Sen’Derrick Marks and Co. could be the deciding factor.
5. Stay Normal: Auburn’s defense has been monstrous on third downs, allowing opponents to convert less than 12 percent of the time. UT needs to be productive on first and second down and avoid penalties in order to stay on the field and have a chance to put points on the board.

My five:
1.) Do something different! I don't care what it is just do something different. We are way too predictable.
2.) Tell Crompton that we are the guys in the orange and white, NOT blue, orange, and white.
3.) Let Clawson call his own game.....not the conservative, we don't want to make a big mistake that Phil handcuffs him with.
4.) If your punter punts it and it does not go out of bounds bench him for his career and revoke his scholarship.
5.) If Chavis goes to the mustang package once, fire him immediately. Our D is plenty good enough to shut down their offense.

I'd spread the field with 4 "wideouts" but one of them would be B.Warren. Have Crompton back in shotgun and big Foster or explosive Creer right beside him. Can send Warren on a pattern or put him in motion back toward middle to block or fake handoff to him. You could throw plenty from this but still run also. Could also sub in G.Jones as qb in this same formation, but I believe it would give more passing options than the other G-Gun.

1. Not shoot self in foot. Not necessarily 'start strong' - just don't beat yourself out of the gate. That happens, then we gotta a real good chance. If we're within a field goal to start the 3rd, we're better than a 50/50 to win.
2. I agree; punt toward boundary, away from Dunn. Pooch kick on kick-offs - let them have it at the 35 yd line. Don't get greedy or let the ego allow the kicker to try to kick deep.
3. Maybe after the first initial series or two, if the defense looks like it could be exploited by the pass AND Crompton is having a decent start AND the O-line looks able to pass protect. But out of the gates, play conservative with the running game - don't throw it around to start with - mix in some throws; but again, don't put it on shoulders of a quarterback that lacks confidence (see point #1). Let Crompton lean toward running the ball if nobody open as it will open up the underneath to medium stuff more that way if LB's have to keep an eye on him. I liked the fire he displayed when running the ball that time in early 4th (?) against UF - he's not a Tebow, but he ain't a Tip-toe either. Bottom line is stay in the game.
4. Obviously the O-line needs to play well.
5. Hope the defense does it's job, and it should.
6. Enjoy playing on the road. This is actually a benefit to UT players this week, as opposed to playing at home which has become a liability. Have fun and enjoy the game of football somehow!
Prediction? None here. That's what makes it fun - you just don't know what's going to happen. I'm gonna sit back and drink a beer, watch the game and see what happens. If we win, awesome - the SEC just got stronger and we'll be in the running again. If we lose, so be it - I'll just get up from my sofa, go out for a bit of fresh mountain air & still be thankful for the color orange! (Among other things.....)
May the good ghost of Neyland be with you gentlemen on the plains Saturday!

After surveying this long thread of moronic rants, I have come to the conclusion that most of you anti-Fulmer “writers” are nothing more than simplistic, uneducated boobs. Those who still support our program seem to have a higher level of writing skills, and the vocabulary to accompany it. The pro-Fulmer crowd seems to have a better temperance as well.
After evaluating the vocabulary and the writing skills of the dense, anti-Fulmer crowd, it is obvious from your name-calling – not to mention your lack of sentence structure and your stunning consistency of spelling errors – that this is not a thread where intellectuals often frequent. However, to the credit of you simpletons, many of you have very creative usernames. Your creativity is nearly parallel to that of a third grader!
It is my opinion that those who have not earned the right to be called UT alumni should keep their simple little mouths closed about this matter. Those who have earned the right to call themselves alumni of some other institution at least have a little more of a right to bemoan a COLLEGE football program, as at least they are alumni somewhere. However, those of you that I aforementioned – those who can’t write a proper sentence – please go back to your workstation as there is much more telemarketing to be done before the end of the day.
Furthermore, oh, wait a moment, what’s that sound? Hmm, I think I just heard the whistle blow, which means that it time for you GED toting, anti-Fulmer peons to get back out on your assembly line, as your fifteen minute break has come to an end. And hurry up and get our there before we decide to send your measly job to Mexico. Hurry up and get back, pick up your slow production, because President Felipe Calderón is looking over you shoulder just waiting to move your job on to his country.
Oh, by-the-way… I have a brain twister for you anti-Fulmer morons to work on this weekend! Take the sum of 195 and figure (if you possibly can, don’t waste the whole weekend though) what percentage of that sum the number 148 gives you. And come Sunday night when you finally finish this problem (no cheating!), look hard at the percentage that you come up with. And while looking at that percentage (remember to round-off), think about how unintelligent you must look while spewing your unsophisticated, one-dimensional rants on this board!
So in closing, I say until next time; good day to all, and to all a good day!

While your sanctimoniously pompous rant might strike fear into the uneducated you so 'bravely' attack, let us consider for a moment the lunacy of a post rife with four syllable words in a football forum. Admittedly, there are many college fans who can count to ten and can use the word 'conundrum' in a sentence, but by-in-large, the vast majority aren't exactly Rhodes scholars. Which brings me to my point...why bother bashing the anti-Fulmer fan base when you could use your broad and arching lexicon to make poignant efforts in explaining the ineptitude of the current regime. If your pointless drivel were founded in truths rather than elitist stereotypes, perhaps the other educated readers of this post wouldn't laugh at your pathetic attempt at flexing your intellectual muscles. Nice use of the word 'aforementioned' by the way. And you call yourself a doctor.

Everyone knows that we will win at least one, maybe two, of the Georgia, Alabama, and Auburn games. The reason is that it seems ole Phil does just enough to save his job the last few years. Last year we beat a good Georgia team and won some crazy ones to get to the SEC championship after a terrible start and a beat down from abalama. I am neither a Fulmer hater or lover. I support UT. If another coach is better for UT than I want them. If Fulmer can turn this thing around, than I want him. The problem is we are not beating enough of the good teams. Losing the last several years to the Gators is rediculous. I want UT to be good, but we need to be good every game the whole season. If Phil cannot do that anymore, than lets get someone who can.
Can we beat Auburn, YES! Will we beat Auburn, that remains to be seen. Good Luck Vols.

Logic??? Crompton's ratings are 12th in the SEC, 89th nationally. You haven't started on the margaritas already have you?
invisiblekid writes:
1) Make Auburn pay for their turnovers by putting points on the board. The Vols secondary should get opportunities to make some plays against their passing game. When they do, the offense has to capitalize on them. Winning the turnover battle isn't enough.
2) Break even in special teams. I think special teams have been such a mess that there isn't anyone the Vols can beat in that department. However, they have to stay away from the backbreaking returns and avoid putting themselves in bad field position.
3)Play the field position game and keep it close to the vest in play-calling. I don't think either offense is ready to step up and win a shootout so it looks to be a low- scoring game IMO. Crompton hasn't shown good decision-making and all the RB's have shown the propensity to fumble. Turning the ball over and making things easier for their offense is a recipe for a blowout.
I still don't believe we are to a point where the Vols can't line up and at least have a chance against anyone they play, but I just have a hard time seeing where we beat Auburn on Saturday. Maybe Fulmer and his team pulls that played out us-against-the-world trick one more time and suprises us though.

My 5
1) Score and score often
2) No more stupid mistakes, turnovers, penalties are killing this team
3) Blitz, this is something that seems to be missing for several years. UT claims to have a great secondary so go after the QB to throw off his timing.
4)Special Team, something that has been anything but special for the last few years has got to improve. Limit the yardage on punt and kick-off returns. James set up a short field for a TD and returned a punt for one in last weeks game.
5)Run the ball, when it works continue to run the ball. Quit putting Crompton in "must make the play" situations. The early plan was to not make Crompton feel like the game was on his shoulders and so far UT has done anything but that.
beavbullvol writes:

(e.g.) "which means that IT time for you GED toting" Hmm what time it is Doctor? Also, "AND hurry up and get OUR there before we decide to send your measly job to Mexico." You are not supposed to start a sentence with "and" or "but" Jack-A**. Get OUR there? Learn to type Doctor!!
For your math question..76%. That sounds pretty good. I got one for you. 28 out of 55. That's barley over 50%. That's Phil's record against current SEC coaches, that sounds terrible. If you want to do a little more research Doctor, you will find that Phil's record against SEC Title contenders is absolutely awful and the majority of his SEC and over all wins have come against bottom-tier teams.
Also, not sharing your opinion does not make me someone of lesser intelligence. As far as Anti-Phil posters' screennames...UTDOCTOR69--69? Really, you were the 69th UTDOCTOR or are you a Jack-A** that likes to make people think you are smart?
