Justin Maclin’s itinerary tells the tale.
The 6-foot-4, 215-pound linebacker from Ridgeway High School in Memphis has already been to Alabama and LSU three times apiece since he became one of the top prospects in the state.
“Those are probably my top two,” said Maclin, who is also considering Florida, Illinois, Southern California and Tennessee.
As for Tennessee, Maclin said he may visit Knoxville in June for one of UT’s summer camps.
“I hear it’s real intense and they’re just constantly getting better,” Maclin said. “Sounds like they’re going to be good.”
Yet old impressions are hard to overcome. Maclin last visited UT during the Alabama game in 2008.
“I liked the campus,” Maclin said of his UT visit. “But then it wasn’t that good of a team. They had (former coach Phillip) Fulmer then so it wasn’t all that of a season.”
Maclin is off to personally inspect Florida’s campus this weekend.
“I like them,” he said. “It would be a good school to go to. I’m looking forward to going down there.”
Maclin said he’s not determined to play football for an SEC school. That opens the door for Southern Cal.
“For my position, that’s a real good school to go to,” he said. “It’s a linebacker school.”
Defensive line coach Ed Orgeron is heading up the Vols’ charge.
“It would be a nice school for me to go to since it’s in-state,” Maclin said. “Coach Orgeron seems like he likes it a lot.”

I only care about QBs right now. We all have seen that commitments don't mean a thing 'til pen meets paper.

This isn't too good. We definitely need to lock this guy down.

Linebacker U? You cannot be serious. I am looking forward to Alabama being a little more humble this year now that the rest of the conference is coming out of its 2008 coma - LSU, UT, and AUB should all be markedly improved.

Dang, son, don't hold back, testify.
Sounds like we could make a place for you. Bama is on a losing streak.

He is definitely the one of the two top prospects we've got at LB in the 2010 class. CJ Mosely is the other one, and he will likely stay in Alabama. We need our best to stay in Tennessee.

Maclin would fit in much better in a 3-4 scheme like Kiffin is bringing.
BigAlVol27 writes:
kiffin is not running a 3-4 scheme. It more closely resembles a 4-3 under

You know you are linebacker U when you have to put university of alabama in parenthesis....loser.

Oh yeah....Tide Golf, or whatever...Didn't we take your linebacker coach, and recruiting coordinator? Hmmmmm...
SignalMtnVol writes:
I wonder if Maclin knows that Bummer won't have a scholarship to offer after the NCAA busts their ........ Well, they'll have plenty of textbooks, though

They have been humble for years. That is what probation does to a team. Now UT is paying for Fulmer's transgressions. Saban has one game circled each season and it is not the Auburn game.
TideGolf348yds writes:
Hey preds. Nice to see the Predator fans have ripped-off the Rammer Jammer cheer for hockey! Imitation is flattery. Thanks

TideGolf348yds writes:
Actually he was neither our recruiting coordinator nor linebackers coach. That would be Kevin Steele. You only got that coach because he was run out of town for cheating.
golfballs03 writes:
that's what i meant

Did you just admit that a bammer was cheating?? Imagine that.

Yeah I am sure Alabama was happy to lose rivals recruiter of the year. Nice try though we almost believed you! HAHA
ColeTrickle writes:
you are an idiot! he was both LB coach and recruiting coordinator at UA last year. also he won recruiter of the year at Alabubba. He didnt get run out of town either, he left on his own terms, didnt like working for Nick Satan. Wanted to join the Dream Team in Knoxville! Good luck getting burried in the west by LSU, Ole Miss, and Auburn! Go crawl back under your trailer troll.
ColeTrickle writes:
awesome, thats hilarious! you spelled it wrong though...Alabubba is the correct spelling!
ColeTrickle writes:
please spare us from the Fulmer his paying for is transgressions garbage. Alabuba cheated(period). that is nobody's fault but the University Of Alabuba. Phil did it the right way for 16 years and never commited a major violation and he won a national title. Get over it. It hate Alabuba and would have done the same. the cheating is still goin on at Alabuba. Sanctions baby, they will be BCS ineligible before long and saban will go back to he11 where it came from.

I heard he is concerned about Satan and probation and is leaning to LSU. The dinosaur in Kville really has his attention, though. He is torn because he knows Monty will be the best to get him ready for NFL but he loves LSU!!!

I'm a fellow Ridgeway Roadrunner and went to UT. It's a great transition from the "Big Blue" to the "Big Orange." Come play in front of 100,000+ and be a Vol!!
johnlg00#206211 writes:
If so, it might explain part of his attraction to LSU. Don't forget that Chavis is the DC down there, too, and he turned out an NFL LB or 10! Hope we get the guy, though; build that fence around the state, guys!
sameolvolalum writes:
Apparently Coach Orgeron has his sights set on this guy and Monte's legacy has to be enticing. I wouldn't bet my farm but, considering the way the Dream Team's been recruiting, I'd say the odds are starting to lean in UT's direction for this kid and any others in the state. Just one quality visit is all it takes-------------unless there are more grandma's like Marlin Brown's.
