Head coach Lane Kiffin during the UT spring Orange and White football game at Neyland Stadium on Saturday.
CLEVELAND, Tenn. — So Lane Kiffin walked to the podium at Monday’s Big Orange Caravan stop and said he would get in a battle of wits with Urban Meyer, but he never attacks an unarmed person.
OK, he didn’t. Actually, and this is a little disappointing, Kiffin did not launch any taunts toward Gainesville or Athens or Tuscaloosa. Speaking to an assembly of Tennessee fans at the Cleveland Country Club, absolutely an opportune time to insult your rivals, Kiffin lacked his usual bravado.
The only time he hinted at a bold proclamation was when he said, “I think our first unit on defense is going to be really special. I’ll be shocked if it’s not.”

I reiterate my post from yesterday, and mirror BolivarBob's remarks.
KNS sure is linking to a lot of (quality) Tennessean and Times Free Press articles lately. Maybe the economy is wearing KNS down?
It's like reporters outside the city of Knoxville can get better interviews or something. Weird.

It always has and always will begin with the "D".
Get Stephen's wrist well and he and Coleman could lead us to a great and competitive season.
How many days, Ashley?

let me try to ask an actual football question.....
any surprises from the spring?
positive or negative?
any guys who appear to be breaking out or other guys who were thought to be a serious contributer had the old regime been in place that now may be relegated to the bench?
DennisVols writes:
I think T Williams surprised a lot of folks.
I had seen him playing in HS so he wasn't as big a surprise to me. He didn't have a big ranking by the recuriting sites so he kind of went in-noticed.
All anyone in Knoxville could talk about was Oku and Brown.
This kid is a horse. I saw him rush for 400 in one game last year and score 7 TD's.
The other team was worn out just trying to tackle him. He hasn't got break away speed but will pound it down your throat and keep running. He also has great hands coming out of the backfield.

Chattanooga is about two miles from the GA border and about nine miles from the AL border. The TFP is the major news paper in North GA and North AL and probably has a significant number of subscribers there. In the TFP shoes I would cover GA and AL football - what would you do? I read the TFP every day. Your statement of their coverage of THE VOLS as compared to the others is grossly inaccurate. You should try living in Oklahoma City or Columbus, Ohio as I did if you want to be frustrated over THE VOLS coverage - there ain't none...

First let me say you are the only Gator fan that I can actually stomach.
Second I wanna say that seriously TONEY WILLIAMS who is a Frosh is an absolute beast, he will bust you in the mouth like a fullback only he has the ball in his hands. It was great to see out of this kid. He is not the fastest but in short yard situations he will get the ball. First or second play of the game he broke a run for like 20 yard and was making some impressive cuts, when he got back to the huddle Kiffin was riding him about making just one cut and then go North and South. He did that the remainder of the game.
2. This Furlow kid, I had not heard a word about him, but he is a player no doubt. Laid some licks out there.
3.Frazier don't remember his first name Savon maybe. Anyway he is a linebacker with speed and great vision, and should produce for us this year.
4. BJ Coleman although I didn't think he would be a surprise and I know alot of fans aren't sold on him, but he is the best QB we have and when he gets into game situations he will only get better. With him at the helm we will be productive. Now I'm not saying he will be a superstar, but he will be in the likes of a JP Wilson, Matt Stafford( never really thought he was great guess that's why I'm not an NFL scout lol) that being said he will lead us this year and do a pretty good job, much better than the other 2 and if the Roizer guy doesn't turn out to be the man.
All in all it was a good practice, and nobody let me down on what I thought were good players. P.S. I didn't think Handcock or D Moore were sleepers just thought they never got a chance under the old regime.

Dunno.
A real Gator would be proud of Harvin when he sees what many NFL teams think of him.
Good read at Tennessean.com - click sports.

Awwe man I loved it! The game was a practice but there were outstanding plays here, there and everywhere! My favorite play was the catch D. Moore made after a defender tipped it and he was falling to the ground! That was outstanding!!

With my old high school in that conference, I have seen him play on visits back to ETenn. He didn't fit Fulmer's offense and he definitely wouldn't fit Kififn's. Let's support who we have and hope to see vast improvement sooner than later..

Hilarious stuff about those BYU and UW fans saying that UT is in shambles right now... yeah we had a terrible 5-7 year but in shambles? every team has bad years... I don't see us going 10-2 or 11-1 but it could happen although I see it more as 9-3..if Heaps wants to play for BYU then good for him but he won't be able to compete for a NC playing for them... and UW they went 0-12 so I don't see why he would go there... I really wanted Phillip Sims though but I would settle for Heaps... also what is going on with Ahmad Paige? haven't heard about him in a while and really thought he could be competing for playing time with our playaction passing game.. I would hate to see him be a wasted talent or not do what he needs to do off the field to get on the field... our running game this year should be tremendous... Toney Williams has been great this spring and would really be the Lendale White of our team...
