Wiedmer: Will excitement turn into titles?

Dean Lockwood has been in and out of University of Tennessee athletics for more than 20 years. A member of Don DeVoe’s basketball staffs in the late 1980s, he returned to a few years ago as a key assistant for Pat Summitt’s Lady Vols.

So he’s experienced more than a few highs and lows in Volsville. In town for Tuesday’s Big Orange Caravan stop at the Choo-Choo, Lockwood said, “I don’t know that I’ve ever seen this level of excitement for all three sports at once.”

Those three sports, of course, are football, men’s basketball and women’s basketball, basically the wholly trinity of UT athletics’ money-making machine.

TN's version of the trinity. I would expect to see improvement in all three. It could be a very good year for TN.

If I had to live in Gainesville and deal with Cryer, I'd probably stay stoned too. Can you really blame the guy?

Don't wait a few years, but instead in a few seconds, remember who told you what an idiot YOU are. You my friend are the epitome of an idiot.

Seriously doubt that he's a fan of any team. Just a guy who likes to roll verbal grenades across the board and enjoy the reaction(s).

Yes, I really blame the guy for being stupid to the max. By burning a small amount of weed he has burned an untold amount of cash.

Yeah, he is stupid to the max. It's not like this was a random drug test popped on him unexpectedly. It was a pre-employment drug test for a multi-million dollar job. He knew it was coming, so either he is incredibly stupid or he's an addict.

The_Reverend writes:

I'm sure it was Harvin's first time with weed. They don't have that at UF. He was probably curious or forced to try it.

Why not go spend your time elsewhere where its more meaningful and more of a benefit to yourself....Like playing with your old tinker toys, pick-up sticks, or maybe your Xbox.

I agree with you, but i really doubt it was a "small amount of weed." Probadly more of a Nate Newton truck load amount.

I think you're right. He/she rarely posts twice on any board. He/she also "recycles" the same ol' tired excuse for "content" on several different message boards, regardless of the actual subject matter.
On the other hand, Barry Sanders could have been an interesting hire.

You are right as far as qb's go. The gist of the conversation is skill players. Spurrior didn't run the spread, but he did have an unusual offense. It apparently didn't parlay into NFL success either. The only qb that had < minor success was Shuler. He was more of a Tim Tebow type. He was a running back playing qb.
