Tennessee women's basketball associate head coach Holly Warlick and UCLA coach Nikki Caldwell will be hitting the road again to raise funds and awareness for breast cancer.
Their third annual motorcycle ride will be a 1,500-mile round trip along the Natchez Trace with stops everywhere from Nashville to New Orleans. The kickoff event will be a short ride on May 2 that will start and finish at Wild Wing Cafe in Farragut.
"We want to ride thousands of miles to raise thousands of dollars to recruit thousands of people to join the fight against breast cancer,'' Warlick said.
The fund-raising collaboration began when Caldwell was an assistant coach at UT. The inaugural ride was from San Francisco to Knoxville. Last year was a round trip to Key West. Warlick and Caldwell have traveled more than 6,000 miles, and the venture has contributed to the nearly $100,000 raised by the charitable organization Champions for a Cause.

My joy is mounting because yew got to type in FIRST! Is that on topic ? USER AGREEMENT:I agree not to post comments that are off topic....... On Topic, I'm glad the ladies are doing their awareness tour again since I know people who have died as a result of breast cancer in my immediate family.

I rode the Natchez Trace on my bicycle ten years ago and it's only about 400 miles from Nashville to Natchez so I assume they will ride it four times to reach 1500 miles!! That being said, I applaud the efforts of the Lady Vols coaches in support of a cure for breast cancer.

Looks like they'll drive all the way down to New Orleans from Natchez, so that should add some miles too it.

Holly and Nikki continue to do the Lady Vol program proud. Two amazing women who are not only in the top flight of their profession but community activists who "volunteer" to help others. I am proud of them and I am sure so are their families both biological and Lady Vol. Keep it up ladies.
PS:
Knoxville to Nashville X 2= 360
Natchez Trace X 2 = 888
Natchez to New Orleans X 2 = 340
To me that adds up to over 1600 miles but I graduated from high school before calculators. Mileage distances are from a website mapping program.
