Tennessee head coach Phillip Fulmer talks to Tennessee quarterback B.J. Coleman (18) during a timeout at Vanderbilt Stadium in Nashville on Saturday.

Aug. 26, 2004: In his debut as McCallie’s starting quarterback, with more than 10,000 fans at Finley Stadium, the sophomore threw for 382 yards against Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe.

June 20, 2006: After receiving a text message earlier in the evening from then University of Tennessee offensive coordinator David Cutcliffe that he was the program’s top quarterback prospect, Coleman called and committed to head coach Phillip Fulmer.

Aug. 25, 2006: Coleman helped McCallie come back from a 14-point deficit by throwing for three touchdowns in the final 2:44, including a 54-yarder to Walter Dozier on the game’s final play, to beat Riverdale 33-27.

1st? Same as the number 1. Is that your age, IQ, or number of friends you had left after your dog died?

Did I read this right?? 4-of-8 passing for 21 yards and one interception. He also ran seven times for 17 yards... Not exactly numbers that we are going to miss.

Yeah looks like all his big moments happened in High School! He should be happy at UTC, more suitable for the private school hero!Bring on Scroggins or Heaps!

I know that there are going to be those that say that BJ played against the 2nd team defense. If that’s true, that’s not his fault. That’s the coach’s fault. If I were Coach Kiffin, making $2 million a year, I’d test all my quarterbacks to see who was the best. BJ was not given a fair shake.

That being said, look at the opportunities that Crompton and Stephens got compared to Coleman. I think Coleman has a gripe. This information game from utsports.com http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/t...

Crompton’s Drives
10 play drive - TD run by Hardesty
7 play drive – DEFENSE SCORES 5 POINTS
16 play drive - DEFENSE SCORES 3 POINTS
7 play drive - DEFENSE SCORES 3 POINTS
3 play drive - DEFENSE SCORES 3 POINTS
12 play drive – TD pass to Rogers

Stephens’ Drives
6 play drive – 44 yard FG
5 play drive – TD pass to Warren
3 play drive - DEFENSE SCORES 3 POINTS
9 play drive – FG attempt no good
7 play drive - DEFENSE SCORES 3 POINTS
5 play drive – End of Game

Coleman’s Drives
6 play drive – TD pass to Warren
14 play drive – 31 yard FG
14 play drive – TD pass to Hancock

BOTTOM LINE, BJ WAS NOT GIVEN A FAIR SHAKE.
We just lost our best quarterback and future.

Our future? I think you are being a little over dramatic. I hate to see him go too, but he did leave on his own. He wasn't kicked off the team.

Lighten up a little, he's NOT a Peyton Manning.

I think he was probably the best QB on the roster, and I do agree that he wasn't being given a fair chance at winning the starting job.
The bright side-- this might help UT in recruiting Jake Heaps.

The likelihood of that happening are as likely as this happening:

And the academy award for best actor in a dramatic movie goes to...

Jean-Claude Van Damme in "Robo-Cop 6 -Man loves Machine-"

Nice resume, too bad we won't see the rest of the story. We're all booked up on crazy Crompton. Erik Berry feels tired already. "Back on the field Defense!!!!"

Anybody who thought Coleman was 'the future' is delusional. Future scout team QB once Heaps & Co. come in next season had he stayed. Looks to me like Kiffen is just trying to get through this season with below average SEC QB play and bring in the studs in 2010. Let's hope the running game is *great* this season.
