A former University of Tennessee offensive lineman was released from the Whitfield County (Ga.) Jail on a $5,000 bond Saturday for a sexual assault charge, according to a jail officer.

Dalton Police arrested Cameron Mayo, 23, on Friday.

Mayo, a former University of Tennessee offensive lineman, was working at Dalton High School as a substitute teacher at the time of the charge.

This is news? The kid never played a snap. I'm not sure he ever dressed for a conference game.

I want to know the arrest record of everyone whose ever worked at the Sentinel. I'd also love to see the Sentinel publish the reason John Adams left his job in Pittsburgh. Every time it gets posted, the post is removed.

What's good for the goose...

byobbio writes:

In other news, Mayo Garden Center is charging high prices for their fruit bearing trees!

byobbio writes:

BTW, how does the Sentinel get off on parlaying a former Vol name synonymous with success (Bill Mayo, Jerrod Mayo) into getting readers to look at a slimy article like this? If i want smut, i'll go to GoVolsExtra. That's where the dirt is!

No one that cheer's for UT, UF, UGA or Bama should make fun of the others over arrest records. They all have lists that are miles long.

And what makes it even funnier is that when one fan group starts laughing and making fun of another it's usually their school that winds up with another arrest.

He left when Fulmer was still coach.

Gator fans, get a frickin clue, quit trying to start up.

You're all pathetic.

I don't know if it's funny or not, but your point is quite valid.

The sad thing about it all is that a lot of young people seem to be throwing their futures away without a thought in the world. I just don't understand it...

Stay classy dc!! Whether they are former UT students, or not, it's not a joking matter to the families of those afflicted. It may all be in fun when it concerns a rival school, but those families do not take it lightly.

I do agree that the last thing that UT fans need to be doing is getting in a pissing contest over arrest records, but have some decency when you post. If that is possible.

What the heck? Of all the phooey this website puts up and a post that references a news story that made ESPN gets removed?

Anytime a NCAA athletic department has to make a press release that a coach is not resigning due to rumors/reports, you know something is going on. The 2002 Foolmore scandal WAS news whether people want to admit it or not.

Then again, with how many articles are beign fed onto here by associated newspapers instead of original articles, you've almost got to wonder if the KNS knows how to report news anymore anyway.

You are confusing that with the numbers of guys who visited your sister last night.

I'd like to see a list of the 22 if you can supply it. Either list.

Young Mayo made a mistake. Their are consequences for the decisions we make in life. I hope this doesn't ruin his, but this looks bad. I remember his dad (as I know most of you do) and if I'm not mistaken (and I could be), Bill was in the same recruiting class that included an oddity.............2 different sets of brothers/twins.

Gee, lil' zzgatorboy, aren't you the dude who claims that you only post facts? Name the 22 arrested under Kiffin. As a matter of fact, name even one active UT player that has been arrested since Kiffin took over.

Liar...

A bit off topic, but here is some info on the legendary lil' Urbie. This was published in January 2009:

"In his authorized biography, “Urban’s Way,” Meyer said he turned down Notre Dame in 2004 because of the timing. With a young family, he didn’t want to recruit nationally.

"I wanted to go to Notre Dame,” Meyer acknowledged in the book, “but my family wanted to talk about going to Florida."

Betcha' within a year of Trimmin' Tim leaving UF lil' Urbie will be posting change of address cards with the USPS.

JohnnyU writes:

Seriously, how many UT players have gotten into trouble since Kiffen took over? I was not going to ask this until we got through the summer, but I don't recall anyone getting arrested or into trouble. I was thinking that maybe they've been too worried about maintaining their spot on the roster.

All of those stories are bad, and reflect poorly on the individuals involved, but not UT. None of those instances happenned while they were student-athletes at UT. If they had, and they had stayed on the team, I would be outraged. But they didn't.

You cannot control what individual kids do. But as a coach, you can decide how to punish kids when they misbehave under your watch. Personally, I still think Fulmer should have kicked Colquitt off the team after his DUI. I also think Meyer hasn't been the disciplinarian he should be. His history of dealing with these kids reflects as self-serving. Kids play when he needs them, no matter what they've done. It doesn't reflect well on your university.

Let's not forget Teddy "the Rapist" Dupay! This is a subject we should both avoid! But the fact is most of Florida's legal problems "with the exception of the rapist" happened while they were still in school. None of what DC choirboy is blabbing about happened while they were student athletes. Don't expect much trouble with our current staff, you will still have the occasional dumbazz, but I'm sure they will be dealt with harshly. So Gator STFU!
