Tennessee sophomores John-Patrick Smith and Matteo Fago earned first-team All-SEC tennis honors. Another UT sophomore, Boris Conkic, made second-team All-SEC.
Smith, last year's freshman of the year, is the first Vol to earn first-team All-SEC two times in his career since Peter Handoyo in 1999 and 2002.
Smith is 31-10 playing No. 1 singles and is ranked No. 5 nationally.
Fago is 19-10 overall, primarily at No. 3 singles, including 17-3 in dual-match play.
Conkic, ranked No. 37, makes his second appearance as second-team All-SEC after going 27-8 at No. 2 singles.
Billy Chadwick of Ole Miss is coach of the year, Michael Venus of LSU is player of the year and Carlos Cueto of Florida is freshman of the year.
The fifth-ranked Vols face ETSU one week from today at Varsity Courts in the first round of the NCAA tournament.
Bowman In SI: UT senior Sarah Bowman is featured in Sports Illustrated's "Faces in the Crowd" section this week. Bowman helped the Lady Vols win three relay titles last week at the Penn Relays.
