T.J. Leifheit
Tennessee is still in the running for offensive lineman T.J. Leifheit from Hoggard High School in Wilmington, N.C.
The 6-foot-7, 300-pound Leifheit told the News Sentinel on Monday that he’s narrowed his list to five schools: UT, LSU, North Carolina, Florida State and Southern Cal.
“I just felt the best relationship with those five schools and their coaches,” he said. “I had outstanding visits to all of them.”
Leifheit eliminated Florida and North Carolina State from his list during the weekend.
He is being recruited by UT assistant coaches David Reaves and James Cregg.
Leifheit, who attended UT’s Orange and White game on April 18, said last week that he was impressed with the coaching staff’s work ethic.
“All the coaches are full of energy and they’re always running around,” Leifheit said. “I think they’re going to win a lot of games there.”
Leifheit said he hopes to make his college decision by October. He plans to graduate early and enroll in college in January.
He said he hasn’t scheduled any official visits for this fall.

However, we'll take TJ! Just read his recruiting profile. He looks like a big ol' cornbread feed boy. We need him!!

It seems the competition is coming down to us and USC with Florida on the outside looking in. In a year or 2 it may be the same way in the BCS.

Energy is good...nice to have for a change.

I live near this guy....think I'm going to all his games decked out in orange.

yes we do, this one is an OL, and we need then even more.
VolunteerLifer writes:
If he wants to play close enough to home so his folks can drive to see him play alot, then that eliminates LSU and USC, and almost eliminates FSU. UT is 7.5 hrs from Wilmington. I wouldn't be surprised if it comes down to us and UNC for that reason.

I sure hope we get him. GBO

On a whim, I read an Alabam blog, they were getting piss.d about the WR's committing and the rumor about Sims. At least they're thinking about us again. I can only imagine what press we would be getting with Fulmer still here. Probably about as much Miss State.
iowavol writes:
Win a few early games, even an upset and we will land this one plus more. As Kiffin said, we've got the attention, it's all about winning now. It's that simple.
NeylandWest writes:
You are correct! He is only good enough for TN, LSU, So Cal and second tier schools like that. Unless you were born with a golden-fleece diaper and can walk on water while evading Miami-Dade officers, you'll never fit in Urban's program.
StroVol writes:
We had better be crisp come WKU. Personally every down on set or one. Average of 7.2 per carry. 21 pass 60 run. No penalties, all energy, amps, and ohms. EAO!
deadheadvol writes:
big boy, we need him and a couple more his size, as thin as we are on ol he could make an impact quick, go orange
DennisVols writes:
As the talent level continues to increase at key positions (WR &RB) the rest of the pieces will start to fall into place.
This season will be key for the Vols. If there is a notable difference in play and competitiveness Kiffin will sway a few highly sought after recruits to de-commit to other universities and come sign with UT.
Anyone else notice how most if not all those visiting campus talk about the energy the coaching staff has? When was the last time we ever heard recruits talk that glowingly about a UT coaching staff?
Keeping it Real
Go Vols!!!
RollTideJoe writes:
You folks are so full of yourselves. Not worried about you anytime soon. Things must be really bad around Rocky Top that you have to pump one another up daily. Not worried at all about Sims changing to Ktown. He's committed to Alabama all the way.
NeylandWest writes:
It's an honor to see fans from other sites on ours. Thanks for stopping by. Did you read about us on a billboard? Or did you just google your way here?
TWhite11 writes:
Wow, Tennessee is full of energy. Dont think I ever heard that when fulmer and his staff there.

It's not a guess. It's a fact.
If you don't believe me, wait for the gatrolls to bubble up and tell us.
AllVol1 writes:
I have not heard the rumor. Is Sims rethinking his commitment? That would be very big! It is one thing for us to be getting some big time recruits, some number one's and the like, but it makes an even bigger splash if we are "stealing" them away from prior commitments. Nu'keese is apparently the real deal, but we got so much extra press just because we "stole" him away from Florida. If we could pull Sims into this next class, we would be creating some mystique around our recruiting prowess, besides our talent level. Anyone have a real scoop on Sims? STORM AND SWARM!!
murrayvol writes:
I think it comes down to UT & NC. Chapel Hill is closer but football tradition lies just across the mountains.
We'll leave the light on for you T.J.

Very, very funny.
AllVol1 writes:
Methinks the lady doth protest too much.
It is all-too-human to reconsider choices, to weigh out decisions when given some time, to see if your initial impulse was really the best move for one's self. Sims will be watching what happens this year in the SEC. Just listen to the recruits who visit Ktown: it's an exciting atmosphere, a program obviously on the rise toward power. I give respect to what Bama and Florida have done the past few years (it is childish denial otherwise), but you know that things are turning around on Rocky Top. The Orange Storm is gaining strength, the Orange Swarm will be devastating. You pray otherwise, but you know, deep down, that UT RETURNS!!
murrayvol writes:
John was from Nashville. And he's still big.

You guys have one good season and suddenly you think you're back on top of the SEC food chain with LSU and FL. The delusions of grandeur down in Tuscaloser are quite high. Gimme a break.
BTW, your coach is 4-6 in bowl games and has yet to put two good back to back seasons together. So get over yourself.

I actually did hear a rumor that Florida didn't want him. The details are fuzzy but it was either something about not being able to run a fast enough 40 while being tasered or not being accurate enough while firing his assault rifle in the air. Who knows.
The only rumor I can confirm is that he told Alabama recruiters that he was interested in majoring in ethics. Once they looked it up in the dictionary, hey stopped recruiting him too.

Are you ready for some football? I know I can't wait. It has been a long off-season. Every year, you have that upset Saturday, where alot of the higher ranked teams lose. But, now, you have a lot of games played on Thursday. Which week it might be this year, nobody knows, but, you know it is going to happen. National title dreams crushed, and, titles invisioned. The pigskin takes some funny bounces sometimes. Thats what makes it so great. Anyway, football is in the air and I can't wait. I say the Vols will be improved this year. I don't see them winning a national championship, but, they are still a conteder as of now. I'm looking forward to seeing the Vols in gameday action. Here's to a good season. BTW, you should get some kind of royalty for your handle. Good talking to you, and again, welcome. GO VOLS!!!

It would make since that one of the Alabama qb commits would leave. Eventually they have to say "the money they paid me to sign isn't enough to cover not getting a shot in the NFL."
Has anyone seen how many DB's Clemson has signed thus far too? They ought not compete with us anymore for those... not that we need them, but who really needs to sign 7 db's?
