Sunday: talking football instead of practicing it

After five physical days of practice (will there be any other kind under Lane Kiffin?), Tennessee got a reprieve Sunday. All the Vols had to to do was stand in the broiling sun at Neyland Stadium and talk to the media for a couple of hours.

It's a once-a-year opportunity for the media,the only day of assured access to all of the freshmen and all of the assistant coaches. Dave Hooker of the KNS stalked the freshmen and will be working on a series of features.

I had a chance to track down several players who have missed practice time because of injuries. Rico McCoy said he'll be out probably another week to rest his knee. Brent Vinson said his hamstring tweak (from last Thursday) is improving daily. He's walking fine and expects to be back soon. Corner Art Evans injured his left knee in the scrimmage on Saturday. He said he's "staying off his leg for a couple of days" but expects to be back next week. Fullback Kenneth Cooper didn't scrimmage because of a slight concussion, Lane Kiffin said.

Football is physical people get hurt depth is so very important. Hope we do not have many injuries-wish we had more players on scholarship. Numbers are important too. go vols
