Merritt does not advance in World track

Former University of Tennessee standout and NCAA champion Aries Merritt finished fourth in a qualifying heat of the 110-meter hurdles and did not advance at the IAAF World Track & Field Championships on Wednesday morning in Berlin.

Merritt finished in 13.70 seconds and was unable to advance to the semifinals.

His American teammates, two-time world and Olympic silver medalist Terrence Trammell and Beijing silver medalist and ‘07 world bronze medalist David Payne, however, were able to move on. Trammell finished second in heat five in 13.51, while Payne was third in heat six at 13.54.
