Vandy’s starting DE Stone (broken foot) out for 6 weeks

NASHVILLE — Steve Stone, Vanderbilt starting defensive end, will miss at least six weeks because of a broken right foot.

Coach Bobby Johnson said Stone took a bad step on a routine play in practice Monday.

He has started every game the past two seasons. Stone’s five sacks last season tied for the team lead.

He likely will miss September games against Western Carolina, LSU and Mississippi State.
