OCALA, Fla. — The Florida Gators could be without two players next season.
Coach Billy Donovan said Wednesday that small forward Adam Allen had a second surgery to repair a stress fracture in his left leg and won’t be cleared to practice until at least mid-September. He says forward/center Eloy Vargas could be academically ineligible.
Although neither did much last season, the Gators had been counting on Allen and Vargas to play bigger roles this year.
Without them, Donovan’s frontcourt would include center Kenny Kadji and forwards Alex Tyus, Vernon Macklin, Dan Werner and Erik Murphy. Only Tyus and Werner have much experience.
