Three with UT ties make USA Swimming team

Three athletes with ties to the Tennessee women's swimming and diving team were recently named to the USA Swimming National Team after successful performances this summer.

Sophomore Jenny Connolly, former Lady Vol Christine Magnuson and volunteer coach Davis Tarwater recorded times in the top six in the country this summer to be named to the squad.

Connolly was selected to the national team in the 100-meter backstroke.

Magnuson, the 2008 NCAA champion in the 100-yard butterfly, was selected to the team in the 100-meter butterfly, 100-meter freestyle and 50-meter freestyle.

Tarwater was named to the team in the 100-m butterfly, 200-meter butterfly and 200-meter freestyle.

As members of the national team, Connolly, Magnuson and Tarwater will have the opportunity to represent the U.S. in international competitions and attend national team events as the team readies itself for the London Olympics in 2012.

Vols swimming is on the rise. I see great things in the future for our water Vols. Keep up the great effort.

Knoxvillian Davis Tarwater of Webb School chose to swim at Michigan instead of UT. Why do we allow turncoats like this guy to have jobs on our staff? I say get this guy a job at Michigan. Oh, they don't have a job for him? Too bad.
