Mike Strange's Monday practice news

A lot of news from Monday's practice at Haslem Field:

1, Jonathan Crompton named starter at quarterback by coach Lane Kiffin. This comes as no surprise to me or anyone else who watched practice on a regular basis. Crompton got almost all the work with the number ones and Nick Stephens just didn't do enough to justify passing him by.

2, Josh McNeil was absent to consult with a knee specialist. The senior center is hurting and it remains to be seen when, or even if, he'll be back to try to hold on to his job at center.

Didn't Chris Lofton have a similar injury as Jones three years ago and wasn't he out only two weeks?

From the reports it sounds like Lofton's was less severe. Chris did get back in the rotation after a couple of weeks but he was there for the 3 ball. His dribble drive penetration was very limited for several weeks while the swelling and soreness lingered.

90 miles away, I get a lot out of GVX, except could do without Adams continual jabs at long gone Philip Fulmer. Talk more about Majors, my hero. Back to GVX and their reporting, if you had read an obscure article on here about Drew Edwards being hired away; you would know they don't have a true beat writer. I for one am leery of what the SEC is mandating about reporting, texting, videos, etc. not approved by them. The SEC is trying to control the $$, but those of us used to seeing videos on YouTube or here, will do without. Or you can pay the tariff. The ones who pop on here and criticize GVX for being late are usually paying subscription fees to Volquest. Of course Chris Low is still around at ESPN, and hasn't lost his contacts.
