Lady Vols host soccer Classic

Tennessee will be hunting for goals tonight in Regal Soccer Stadium as the First Tennessee Lady Vol Classic gets underway.

Kansas meets Pepperdine at 5:30. The No. 23 Lady Vols take on Arizona State at approximately 8.

After a rest day on Saturday, Arizona State faces Kansas at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, followed by Tennessee-Pepperdine at about 3.

UT is 1-0 after a 2-0 victory over East Tennessee State last week, getting both goals from Mick Imgram and a shutout from goalkeeper Molly Baird.

Arizona State beat UC-Irvine 2-0 in its opener. The Sun Devils return nine starters from an 8-8-4 squad.

Pepperdine also is 1-0, scoring a 2-1 come-from-behind victory against Marquette.

Women's Basketball: Lady Vols basketball coach Pat Summitt said she spoke with Amber Gray on Wednesday and discussions are underway regarding a visit from the recovering Lady Vol, possibly within the next two weeks.

Gray is home in West Chester, Ohio, after undergoing brain surgery in July for an aneurysm. The procedure took 12 1/2 hours. Gray was released earlier this month from Cincinnati's Drake Center, where she began her rehabilitation.

"I think she just wants to come and see everyone, her mom is going to bring her,'' Summitt said.

Gray told Summitt that her rehab was continuing to go well.

"She's excited about it,'' Summitt said. "That's a good thing."
