FORT MYERS, Fla. — A minor league baseball team has changed a Tim Tebow promotion after receiving a cease and desist e-mail from the University of Florida.
Fort Myers Miracle fans expected “What Would Tim Tebow Do?” night Wednesday, but the theme was changed to “What Would T.T. Do?”
The Naples Daily News reported that senior associate athletic director Jamie McCloskey told the team NCAA rules prohibit the names or pictures of its athletes in commercial promotions.
A ceremonial jump-pass started Wednesday’s game against the St. Lucie Mets. Fans received promise rings and watched a character called “T.T.” try to walk on water.
Tebow has led Florida to two national titles and is known for his charitable work.

I like and respect Tim Tebow. I think he's a fine young man, and if he was wearing Tennessee Orange and White instead of Florida Orange and Blue every Tennessee fan in the country would be treating him the way we do Peyton Manning.
All that said, I'm tired of every story saying Tebow led them to two national championships. Yes, he had a hand in Florida winning the 2006 title, but Chris Leak was the senior quarterback on that team and took a lot more snaps than did Tebow.
Tebow was a good gimmick, change-of-pace quarterback that helped win games. He played a big role in Florida winning the title. I just think too many people make it sound like Tebow was the guy like he was last year rather than a freshman still coming into his own.

The way every non-Big 12 sports analyst talks, Tim Tebow (or is it Tivo?) can walk on water.... seriously, they need to get all of their eggs out of his basket. What happens if he gets hurt? Hourly reports on CNN about the health of Tim Tebow at that moment? An all-day candle vigil on ESPN where everyone is praying for Tim Tebow to make it back to the playing field? Seriously, can we talk about someone other than Tim Tebow?

Totally off topic, but Barkley was named starting QB at USC. Even money says Scroggins ends up a Vol.

Eric Berry, please, please bury your helmet in this guy's chest.

I find it hard to believe that Scroggins would really stick to his verbal with USC. I know its close to home for him, but, I just think he would really want the oppurtunity to display his skills. I don't know if he will pick the Vols or not, but, he did have us very high on his short list. GO VOLS!!!

Maybe tebow will realise his mistake and transfer to Tenn, He would be a good backup for JC & NS!

What would T.T. do do?

When he goes to the nfl it will be the last you hear from him. Besides all of that if he was doing anything for the Lord he wouldnt want it broadcasted all the time. Becareful not to do your alms before men.

This "promotion" is insulting to all Christians - even more so since Tim Tebow is such a devout Christian.
chargervol writes:
Do you think tebow would be good enough to back them up. I don't know. Anywho! GO VOLS!!!

With all due respect FWB, I watched a big chunk the other night of the Tennessee-Florida game Tebow's freshman year on CBS' cable channel. Florida won, 21-20, and Tebow's short yardage runs provided the edge that beat us. Had the Vols won that game, there would have been no NC for the Gators that year. That wasn't the only game Tebow played a big role in. Is that leading? Maybe it is if you don't win without him.

Everyone says their tired of hearing about Tebow, yet it seems like there are more comments on a Tebow story more then any other story in the sec news column. Just pointing that out
