LEXINGTON, Ky. — Kentucky wide receiver Aaron Boyd will sit out the entire 2009 season.
Coach Rich Brooks said Friday that Boyd, a sophomore, will benefit from a year spent focusing on his maturity and understanding the level of committment it takes to play for the Wildcats.
Brooks said he’d been pleased by Boyd’s progress during camp, but a slight shoulder separation limited his practice time recently. The development of the other receivers, combined with the injury, helped Brooks make the decision.
Boyd caught five passes for 46 yards as a freshman.
Senior linebacker Micah Johnson did not practice Friday due to a strained foot. X-rays on the foot came back negative, though Johnson said he’s not certain of his status for next week’s season-opener against Miami (Ohio).

Good! Pizz on the mildcats! Those fans are worse than Florida fans. Any bad day in Ky is a good day in volunteer country.

I don't exactly agree with the above comment. Still, I'd say that's a firm stance by Coach Brooks. WOW.

I didn't realize playing for the kittycats took that much of a committment. Injured, broken, immature....who cares when you need talent!

I'm with ya Major, I don't have anything bad to say about KY. Maybe that's bc we've beat them like 28 straight times;) One more week my fellow Volniacs, I can't wait!

Alright guys. Before you eat me hear me out. I live 5 miles from the KY state line. I work for an office out of Lexington. I had to sit through Jody Meeks beating the poopie out of us last year. I have to listen to coworkers rant and rave about their drunk coach beating Pearl. They still worship Tim Couch. All KY fans dress like they're going to play basketball. They drive in the left lane running 10mph under the speed limit. They drive me nuts. Ask any fan who lives on a state line or in Nashville who's the most obnoxious and you'll get several different answers. Up here we hate KY the most. Remember folks... not all vol fans live in K-town.

I think some people misunderstood the article and thought Boyd was sitting out because of the injury, and thought you were rejoicing in the injury of a player. Actually, he has recovered from the injury and is redshirting to give him a year to mature. I know what you mean about Kentucky fans hating Tennessee, the same can be said for Vandy fans. I guess it's the frustration of always losing to us. But, in my opinion, Florida still has the most obnoxious and classless fans, and they can't use the frustration excuse.
