The destination has been set for days.
But Tennessee is now officially headed for Atlanta and the Chick-fil-A Bowl.
The Vols (7-5, 4-4 SEC) formally accepted an invitation to the New Year's Eve game against No. 12 Virginia Tech early Sunday evening, and a teleconference is schedule for 8:30 p.m. The game will kick off on ESPN at the Georgia Dome at 7:30 p.m.
According to a Twitter update from Tennessee athletic director Mike Hamilton, tickets will be available on UTtix.com tonight at 9. Hamilton said the school had already sold 11,000 for the meeting with the Hokies (9-3, 6-2 ACC).
More details online and in Monday's News Sentinel as they develop.

To navonodb, just like you're team was exposed yesterday (again), your unsupported claims of UT to the Music City, Independence, and Liberty Bowls are debunked again.
Go Vols.
And by the way, 32-13. BBWWWHAHAHAHAHAHAhAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHHA!!!!

I have never been able to go to a UT bowl game before, gonna try to change that this year. Does anyone have any tips as to where or how I can get the best seats at best prices. Maybe a package deal with a hotel room. I need a voice of reason, have a couple of idiots whispering. Got to get them out, maybe call DOC.....HEY WITCHY
yabadabadoo1026 writes:
this is a compelling matchup where a win gets us some respect--dont understand you folks who would rather play some nobody for a more likely win that means little
VolunteerPassion writes:
do we know who will wear the home jerseys?
golfin_blondie writes:
I got mine off the Chick-Fil A website. There are packages and individual tickets. You can also go to ticket-sub. My research is everybody is about the same price, just be careful and make sure you know who you are dealing with.
VolinCalif writes:
Thats only 50% tuue. There are two ways of that happing.
ArealVolFan writes:
You really are pathetic, Flo. Just be glad you didn't end up having to play either one of them. Hate for FL to get exposed by non BCS schools. Bad enough Bama did. Looks like Cincy will get the honor.

I liked the new rule that FG are only worth 1 point.
And that blocking them without levitating is a 15 yd unsportsmanlike penalty.
We should be a-ok.

When urban met saban at midfield after the game he also handed him the keys to the southeastern conf drivers seat. his reign of being leader is over. and next year good chance saban will hand them to clk. and it will be fun watchn the fake ut try and keep a close game with the tide. I dont think they have a snowballs chance in hell! GO VOLZZZ! BEAT THE HOKIES!

Apparently Urban Crier cried so much he became dehydrated and had to be hospitalized. I have heard of players becoming dehydrated but never a coach.

Still find it hard to believe the Outback passed on the Vols. Bringing Monte back to Tampa would have been a buzz. Not to mention the fun Lane would have been. Instead they have a horrible match up
spacehistorian writes:
If we get our players healed up & they absorb Monte's defensive game-plan, then things should be peachy for the Vols on New Year's Eve in Hotlanta. We will have the football world all to ourselves on ESPN December 31st in primetime so we better show up and play hard. Great chance for the Big Orange to show the country that Kiffin has us back on track to being in the SEC Elite.
DennisVols writes:
Be thankful it is in the dome. Years ago I was at the UT - IU Peach Bowl at Fulton Co Stadium. (former home of the Braves). Back then it was going to be the worst day of the year everytime the Peach Bowl was played. That day it was about 38 degrees, rain/sleet, windy a generally nasty day to be outside. But our Vols kept us warm by whipping the Hoosers.
Keeping it Real
Go Vols!!!
navarrebeachvol writes:
ok moron, I'll spell it out for you. we have good coaches. Kiffin hired very good coaches. The other schools have seen the results. They want our coaches. they are willing to either pay a lot or offer a better position. this happens when you hire winners. no problem, they will be replaced with better coaches at UT. part of the business. so simple, even a losing Gay+tor should understand it. perfect mascot for you guys, all mouth, no brains.
golfin_blondie writes:
I got them off the Chicken-Fil A Bowl web site. Lower level row 11 GREAT SEATS

CarlChilders writes:
Well, all in all, I'd say we've fared pretty well. Although it's not Tampa, it sure carries a lot more impact than a game with Northwestern would. Just look at some of the boring matchups! Arkansas vs. East Carolina, South Carolina vs. UConn, Georgia vs. Texas A&M, Auburn vs. Northwestern... and Boise State vs. TCU. I'm sure this game between two unbeatens will be hyped out the wazoo , but if you're not an alumni or a betting person, do you really care? Some of the better matchups will be USC vs. Boston College, Kentucky vs. Clemson, and Oklahoma vs. Stanford. The chicken bowl will provide great entertainment at those small NY Eve parties where the men separate themselves from the women, and should get a greater audience than three bowls during the same time slot on NY Day. I'm excited. Eat mo chickin!

yeah me to!!! unfortunatly; had to buy my tix through VT's website! Mezzanine level!
vol94 writes:
Be safe and go to UTTIx or call them. You will sit with other ut fans and get tix for face value.
I would stay away from package deal. we are staying at Buckhead for 5 nights for only $750.
You can get cheaper hotel than that but I would stay away from downtown due to safety and Price.
You can take Marta or taxi from Midtown or buckhead.

It's just GVX staff trying to stir the pot. If you look up, he actually responded to himself with another screen name. Must be an intern.
32-13.
VolFanFtl writes:
If you have never been to see Tennessee in a bowl, please make every effort to go to this one.
I actually think this bowl is a lot better than the Outback Bowl for the fan base. It was horrible getting up early, on New Years Day, to go to an 11:00 AM game.
As far as tickets, go to utsports.com so you are sitting with Tennessee fans. Find a hotel on your own in downtown Atlanta and use their great public transportation.
Have fun.

Was that '88 or '89? That was my 2nd bowl. I remember I had my picture taken with Sterling Henton, of all people, and having a great time at some place called The Cheetah III.
FEARTHEKIFFER writes:
Urban Cryer went to his buddy Sliver and made sure there was no protest over Auburn and Outback blatantly breaking the agreement with the SEC. No way he wants UT playing in Florida against a ho hum Big Ten team. It's all about recruiting.
wags32 writes:
Did anyone happen to notice that during the ESPN bowl preview show that they had the Lady Vouteers logo on for Tennessee!!!!!!!!!!!! ESPN i cant stand them.
