Willis' father says son hasn't decommitted to UT

Tennessee defensive end commitment Brandon Willis' father advised not to read too much into his son's pending visit to Miami.

Willis and his father, Gary Willis, told goupstate.com today that a trip to Miami this weekend was planned all along.

“Anything being posted on Brandon de-committing is false information,” Gary Willis was quoted as saying. “My job has relocated me to Jacksonville, (Fla.). We were planning on visiting Miami already.”

UT's coaches have repeatedly said they have no qualms with commitments taking official visits elsewhere.

Palmettosports.com reported early Wednesday that a source close to Willis said the star from Byrnes High School in Duncan, S.C., was planning on decommitting from UT and committing to Miami during his official visit to South Florida. The Web site reported that the NCAA's investigation into UT's use of hostesses played into his decision.

Willis could not be reached by the News Sentinel.

Willis plans to enroll in January so a decision should be coming soon.

Gary Wilis said last week that Tennessee hostesses attended Byrnes’ Sept. 25 home game against Gaffney.

Palmettosports.com must be affiliated somehow with the NY Times, or at least they are on the same level of 'journalism.' Maybe whoever is running Palmettosports.com is the one feeding the NY Times with false information about the content of a sign held by UT hostesses at the game they attended in the Palmetto state?

Byrnes standout defensive end and Tennessee commit Brandon Willis is denying a report that says he will likely de-commit from the Vols this
weekend during an official visit to Miami.

According to the story on the Web site, Palmettosports.com, an unnamed source said Willis will likely commit to the Hurricanes.

Brandon and his father, Gary, both said in phone interviews that Brandon will make an official visit to Miami this weekend.

“Anything being posted on Brandon de-committing is false information,” Gary Willis said. “My job has relocated me to Jacksonville, (Fla.). We
were planning on visiting Miami already.”

Brandon Willis said last Wednesday that he had already planned visits to Miami and Cal and that Vols head coach Lane Kiffin knew about the
trips.

Earlier that day, The New York Times reported the NCAA was investigating Tennessee for its recruiting practices and use of hostesses to help lure top recruits.

Gary Wilis said last week that Tennessee hostesses attended Byrnes’ Sept. 25 home game against Gaffney.

If he plans to be in class in January that means all his paperwork and admission stuff has to be in place now. He may sign somewhere else in February but he won't be in class there.

We don't have to wait for signing day in February for Willis. He'll make up his mind and enroll in a couple of weeks.

The sky is falling, the sky is falling screamed chicken little. Oh wait that was just an acorn.
Looks like with the news today about the new commitments and revalation that the so called decommitments didn't really decommit thing are moving forward as planned for Kiffin and UT.
Things will run their course. The smoke from the NCAA last week seems to have died down this week as no reports being updated that they actually found anything to sink their teeth into. You can bet that if there was any meat to all this the media would be all over it.
Keeping it Real
Go Vols!!!

It's really a shame that the posters have to scurry to add context and correct information to the press releases that KNS link to this site(especially considering it is a TN site). No wonder Lane gives them very little access. They would only abuse and exploit the access for the benefit of their own agenda if allowed more.

Like I said before guys, Clemson and USC alums are pissed that two of the states top recruits are going to TN. Holy hostess beamers, can we make it until signing day? What about Bamer offering credit hours to their football players for a speech class that goes over their recruiting mantra. This is getting sick. Saban will do anything. He is turning his football players into race car type promoters.

That's what happens when a gossip columnist tries to write about sports. All snarky insinuations, garbled facts, and leading rhetorical questions. Cagle should stick to writing rumors about politicians and entertainers. Or maybe he is just trying to get an offer from the NYT, hmmm? See, Frank, anybody can start unsubstantiated rumors.

Florida has had a great run...no doubt about that..you guys are undoubtedly the greatest college football team ever assembled..there must not have been any great teams before the nineties...you remind us of that everyday...i'm just sayin

Greer_Vol I too live in Greenville and the Clemson/USC fans are giving it to me, but I tell them this is just the ole ball coach and a certian x-Tennessee coach that is now at Clempson (that's the way they say it over here)trying anything to keep the Lane Trane from coming thru South Carolina and picking up their best players. I also like to ask the chicken fans how they liked that game this year, because they have many more like that coming in the years ahead! Go BIG ORANGE!!
