Lady Vols outlast Central Florida, Kansas

Erin Webb scored from third in the top of the eighth inning to give Tennessee a 1-0 victory over Central Florida at the UCF Early Bird Tournament in Orlando, Fla.

Webb started the inning on second base and was moved to third on perfectly executed sacrifice bunt by Jen Lapicki. After a strikeout, Ashley’s Andrews tapped a slow roller, but shortstop Tiffany Lane rushed her throw to first and Webb scored.

Freshman Cat Hosfield won in relief of Ashton Ward with five innings of no-hit ball.

Lillian Hammond singled in the game-winning run in the eighth and Tiffany Huff added another run on a sacrifice fly to lift the Lady Vols (8-1) to an 4-2 win over Kansas 4-2 in the late game.

Lapicki had even bigger hits. The sophomore tied the game in the seventh with a single despite facing an 0-2 count and two outs and hit a home run in the sixth.

Hosfield (6-1), who started, picked up the win in relief. The freshman pitched five innings and allowed four hits.

Ward pitched three scoreless innings and allowed four hits.

All those freshmen look like the basketball team! Both teams are great (and will be better!)! Go LV!

PS How about a game or two up here, like Liberty at Lynchburg, VA?

It's okay, Hank honey, reading a story about women's sports won't hurt your masculinity too much. Just ask your wife, if you still have one (if you know what I mean.) BUHAHAHAHAHAHA
