Erinn Webb's three-run triple highlighted a six-run third inning Sunday to lead the 11th-ranked Tennessee softball team to a 9-4 victory over Villanova in the final game of the UCF Early Bird Tournament in Orlando, Fla.
The Lady Vols (9-1) ended the tournament 5-0. Webb went 2-for-3 and center fielder Kelly Grieve went 3-for-4 against Villanova with three steals and two runs scored.
Sophomore Ashton Ward (3-0) threw 3 innings of relief, allowing just one hit while striking out three. Freshman Cat Hosfield started the game and allowed four earned runs on four hits, before re-entering the game in the seventh to pick up her first collegiate save.
The Lady Vols next play Thursday at the Cathedral City Classic in Cathedral City, Calif., against Loyola Marymount.
