Snow joins Atlanta, could be reunited with Holdsclaw

ATLANTA — The Atlanta Dream signed free-agent center Michelle Snow on Wednesday, adding a veteran presence to the second-year franchise.

Snow, a former standout at the University of Tennessee, could be joined by former college teammate Chamique Holdsclaw, who is expected to end her retirement and play for the Dream.

The 6-foot-5 Snow averaged 9.7 points and 6.8 rebounds in seven seasons with the Houston Comets after she was selected with the 10th overall pick in the 2002 WNBA draft.

Snow, a two-time All-Star, was regarded as one of the top available free agents in the offseason after the Comets folded in November.

“We are excited about adding an experienced post player to our roster,” Dream general manager and coach Marynell Meadors said. “Snow is an extremely athletic center and we expect her to make an immediate impact for us.”

The Dream finished 4-30 in their inaugural season last year, setting a league record for losses.

Snow will be reunited with former teammate Sancho Lyttle, who was selected by Atlanta with the first pick in the Comets dispersal draft in December.
