The University of Tennessee Athletics Department announced Wednesday that Heather Ervin has been promoted to assistant director for football operations.

“Heather has played a crucial role in our transition,” head football coach Lane Kiffin said. “We are excited to expand her role in the Tennessee family. Her experience with the program and her previous experience will be invaluable to us going forward.”

Ervin will assist with day-to-day operations for the football program, including recruiting activities and academic monitoring and progress of current football student-athletes.

“I am very excited about my new role in athletics and looking forward to my new responsibilities that lie ahead,” said Ervin. “I appreciate the opportunity that Coach Kiffin and Mike Hamilton have given me to increase my role in the football program and I look forward to working with David Blackburn again.”

Ervin joined UT Athletics in 2001 as administrative support assistant for football. A Sweetwater native, Ervin holds a bachelor’s degree and master’s degree from Troy State University, where she played basketball and served as graduate assistant coach for two years. She also played two years of basketball at Hiwassee College in nearby Madisonville.
