Tennis Vols fall to Kentucky

It came down to a battle of highly ranked No. 1 players and Kentucky’s Bruno Agostinelli won it to lead the Wildcats to a 4-2 victory Saturday over Tennessee at Goodfriend Tennis Center.

Agostinelli, ranked No. 8 nationally, was taken to the limit No. 9 John-Patrick Smith before winning 2-6, 7-6, 7-6.

Fourth-ranked UT fell to 7-2 with the loss to No. 31 UK.

“Kentucky out-competed us today,” UT coach Sam Winterbotham said. “We need to get better. We’re going to learn from this and move on.”
