Baugh's surgery called successful

Tennessee women’s basketball forward Vicki Baugh had successful knee surgery Tuesday at the UT Medical Center, said Jenny Moshak, UT associate athletics director for sports medicine.

“Drs. Greg Mathien and Russell Betcher, UT team orthopaedists, performed surgery on Vicki’s left knee this afternoon,” said Moshak. “The surgery addressed the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) revision and repaired the medial meniscus tear of her knee.”

Moshak said Baugh’s surgery went well and she will begin rehabilitation of the knee immediately.

Baugh, a 6-foot-4 sophomore, injured the knee Feb. 2 in the second half of a 80-70 loss at Oklahoma.

Baugh had been limited action since suffering a sprain of the knee in practice on Jan. 1 in preparation for the game at Rutgers. This season, she played in 14 games and started 10. She was averaging 6.5 points and 7.3 rebounds per game prior to the injury.

This is Baugh’s second ACL injury. Baugh had surgery on May 13, 2008, after suffering an ACL injury in the NCAA title game against Stanford.

No 98, I guess we can't have a decent thread anymore. It is a crying shame.

Hang in there, Vicki. You already know the rehab is long and certainly no fun. You know what to expect and I know you will put forth all the effort required. Hang tough girl as you have great value to our Lady Vol team in your our efforts and competitive spirit. I sincerely hope you will be back on court in full force next year. My thoughts are with you !

If you make a post and mention Bongs, you automatically got Michael Phelps scared. (LOL)- As for Ms Baugh, her talent and leadership are going to be needed in large measure, if the LV's are going to re-assume a position of contending for a title shot at most probably Baylor or UCON in 2009-'10. Baugh's drive and determination make her the logical choice to lead this team by example, if she is at all able to recapture a form close to what promise she showed last season. Don't rush it! This is your career, your future, be healthy enough to make the most of it! Best Regards for a COMPLETE recovery!

Okemo & Witch Doctor, with the "Bones Schtick" remind me more of the vernacular used in cajin' country, rather than the hills of Tennessee.-like the kind of talk you'd hear from the dudes in Deliverance that sodomized Ned Beatty and were after Jon Voight and Burt Reynolds. I find it reasonably entertaining and casting no aspursions on the fine folk of UT

Good to hear that all went well. Don't rush the healing and rehab process. I know that Jenny and CO. are the best in the business and I have full confidence in them to get Vicki back on the court, the fact still remains that once the ACL is torn is is always somewhat weak. Take your time and don't come back too soon. We miss you and we need you, but we fans want you more to be as healthy as possible so hopefully you don't have to go thru this again. I for one know's what a painful and slow process it can be, I can't imagine having to go thru it more than once like Viki and Cait have. So please take your time and listen to your body.
GO LADY VOLS!!! We fans love ya!

AND... Okemo & Witch Doctor... please take your grass skirts and little 'bone' some where else. It's not wanted here, and I'm sure I'm not the only one here that agrees.

GO LADY VOLS!!!!!

OK, OK! Everyone cool it for a monment. Let's get back on point. Like, maybe, the UT VOLS?? I go away for a week and what does everyone do?? You let our lady & mens VOLS tank it at UK. One has to admit, these are exciting times for the VOLS. Will the UTLVs get a bye in the SEC tourney?? Will the men's BB go to the NCAA tourney?? Is their enough duct tape for coach Kiffin's mouth--at least, until spring practice starts?? Will UT softball win it all this year?? Tune in, folks, it's going to be an exciting few months ahead. God, it's great to be a Tennessee VOL! Always has been, always will be!!

As usual, 98 has it right. We all should be grateful for Vicki's successful surgery. "Starting immediate rehabilitation" is a great sign. Let us all hope for a complete recovery. Still, I wonder if Vicki will ever play BB again. Hope so, for her sake.

Now on to this silliness about Witch Doctor, caveman & OKEMO. Witch Doctor is the original and, until today, usually has amusing and pertinent observations. Until Today!! Why on earth would you, or anyone on this site, get into a bunch of silly, childish exchanges about demeaning stuff with anyone?? It greatly decreases your effectiveness in getting your legitimate points across. AND, although "bones never lie," bones got pretty silly today --and, two bongs don't make it right.

And, please let me remind everyone that just because one posts on this site pretending to be a VOL fan does not make it so. If you don't like the caustic and hateful comments of outsiders, then please ignore them!! Personally, every time I see a post from someone who usually makes time-wasting, useless comments,--you know who they are--I skip over them and look for Mparker, 98reax and a few others. Even if we read their posts, we should never respond to them. To do so is to cheapen ourselves by lowering to their standards.

We should not let them get under our orange-tinted skins. WE are the Tennessee Volunteers!! We are the best and we know it. Now go out there and win this ballgame!!!

Did you know newspaper delivery has ceased in our area? So what, you say. I get my morning fix of newsworthiness right here. Well, not necessarily GVX, but from all news media that is accessible via internet. After I've had 2 cups of joe and all the disgusting political poo-poo I can tolerate I log in here to get the really pertinent news of my Lady Vols. Thanks to all of you who make that possible.

I even enjoy the biased comments as long as they lean toward The Orange. I especially enjoy the sparse news articles followed by bonafide factual comments such as those posted by LVFF, johnlg, mparker and topgun. There are several other posters who make positive supportive comments on topic and I look forward to their input.

I feel that if I am sickened by the likes of 'so-called' sorcerers to the point that I consider abandoning this site, others will do the same. That would be sad. I would miss this source of news just as I will miss the daily paper. After all, the puppy can't pee on the computer screen.

This voodoo jargon does not set well with me. I want to stay as far away from that as I can. The Bible speaks very plain toward that. The guilty parties may want to seek advice from Micah 5:12 and Galatians 6:20.

If one thinks casting a spell has any validity, one might cast it toward the LVs' opponent on tomorrow night. Maybe Van Chancellor will forget how to coach, or the basketball will weigh 40 lbs, in the hands of the Tigers. Perhaps that one would prove more fulfilling than 98reax "whining like a little girl"

98, rest easy. I'm certain that Witch Doctor and his pretenders are just trying to have a little fun!! Like any of us, sometimes they get carried away. What seems to be really funny at the time one is typing--doesn't translate very well when posted. I thought my "mongulllie" comment to you, recently, was very funny--but, in after thought, maybe it was not as funny as I thought it was.

Please, don't ever take any of these negative guys too seriously--or anyone else on this site. Never let them get you down. I, for one, among many, I am sure, appreciate your comments and look forward to your inputs. Please continue to do that. If you left, the average of the IQ level on this site would take a serious nose dive.

Obviously, some posts have merit, but many others do not. My sincere advice is not not read their stuff. If you don't like them--skip them. OR, read the article, but not the comments. An educated, intelligent person like you can separate the wheat from the chaff.

Sorry about your newspaper, I receive "The Tennessean" and it has some limited news about the VOLS, but it (the newspaper, I mean) is getting smaller and more useless everyday. So, like you, I get most of my VOLS news on this and other UT sites.

Usually, I do a lot of reading but little posting--unless something silly comes up. Like today. My problem, of course, is that my intended short little posts usually wind up like the 1000 page stimilus plan--far too long and no one reads them.

We should remain confident. I have a feeling--no voodoo involved--that our LVs will do pretty good in the SEC tourney. Got to run now--my comma and dash keys are worn out. Look forward to your post when the LVs beat LSU Thursday night.Cheers!!

98reax, your comments would be sorely missed on this site ! Please do not let a few rotten apples spoil the entire bushel. I feel for those fans like you who aren't able to attend the home games or get all the local info.

I have made myself stop even reading posts by a few but I too, do enjoy reading most posts by true Lady Vol fans. I have noticed a couple of our posters getting more and more negative as the season goes on, a true fan sticks with their team through thick and thin, good and bad. Lord knows we Lady Vol fans have had a tremendous share of the good. Our dominance may be nearing the end as so many other teams become so competitive and play with such good quality talent and effort. BUT we will still have our Lady Vols and we still have the best coach in the basketball business.

Those of us who love our team will continue to support them, hold our heads up high and try to show respect to this forum and its bloggers. Go Lady Vols !

If I implied you were ever negative (OK--we had a little deviation today), I do humbly apologize. Without going into another 1000 word treatise, I was thinking more along the lines of the stuff UCON mike, etc., puts out. Never doubted your VOL loyality for a moment.

The Witch Doctor thing is innovative and quite unique. Stay with and don't let the pretenders chill you out. Cheers.

I hear you, 98. I'm pretty much a newspaper guy, too, but even there you have to wade through a lot of stuff to get to what you really want to read. I even get where you are coming from about the "spells" and stuff but it is all in fun. Most of the comments section on LV articles is MILES better than what you find on men's bball and football threads these days. It's still a great pleasure for me to check in on these LV threads. Oh no, buddy! Most of us read and enjoy your posts. It is easy to ramble when the thoughts are flowing. I am reminded of a letter from one of the great philosophers of the Renaissance era, I think, who said, "I'm sorry I wrote you such a long letter; I didn't have time to write a short one."

Back to the REAL topic, I think the gals will show up big tonight, and I think they are poised for a nice post-season run. Except for the injuries, I think this season has gone about the way most of us thought it would. Better times are ahead!
