Johnson promotes Fowler to assistant head coach at Vandy

NASHVILLE — Vanderbilt coach Bobby Johnson has made some changes on his coaching staff, promoting defensive coordinator Bruce Fowler to assistant head coach in charge of defense.

Johnson announced the promotions Wednesday. Fowler has been with Johnson since he took over seven years ago. Jamie Bryant is taking over as defensive coordinator.

Defensive line coach Rick Logo and running backs assistant Des Kitchings have been named co-special teams coordinators.

The promotions come after Vanderbilt went 7-6 in 2008 for its first winning season since 1982 and won only its second bowl victory ever.

Maybe he can name Fowler head coach in waiting like TU did, you know Texas University did. [not UT]

He really is a remarkable coach to bring up Vandy to the level they are. I wish him luck in every game except ours.
