New Tennessee football coach Lane Kiffin spent Tuesday in California, where his wife Layla gave birth to the couple’s third child.

According to UT, Monte Knox Kiffin was born Tuesday night around 9 p.m. EST.

Knox, as he will be called, weighed 8 pounds, 8 ounces and measured 21 inches. Knox shares his first name with Kiffin’s father, Monte Kiffin, who is UT’s defensive coordinator.

The Kiffins have two daughters, Landry, 3, and Pressley, 2.

Lane Kiffin is expected to return to Knoxville sometime today.

Not to steal thunder from Baby Knox, but I just read on Scout that AJ McCarron is considering a visit to UT. Could we steal one from ole Saban? That would be sweet!

Man, I really like this guy!

He names his first son Knox before coaching a single UT game! This one's a keeper!

And what a great name, irregardless. Knox. Good ring to it!

Something told me he was going to incorporate UT in their newborns name. Should have taken bets on this one. Sounds like commitment to me.

The ESPN announcers are 'unacceptable' tonight. To talk with Pat that long during that portion of the game was annoying.

Ah, my son was 9lbs when he was born. He will be 6 in a couple of weeks and he is now only 44lbs. He thinned out quick. Maybe he'll be qb

true, lineman or qb... either would be just fine!

Whats the deal Bruce???

AKVOL writes:

Congrats Coach and Ms Kiffin! Bet Knox can already hit the broadside of a barn from his crib, with a dirty diaper and while enjoying a pacifier. I'm watching five who couldn't even if the ball was LASER GUIDED!

this game was pathetic, they cant guard anybody and they will be lucky to make the NIT.
I still dont know how Pearl lets these players camp outside the 3 point line and cant shoot
