I'm surprised that Auburn isn't getting a little more love than 6th in the poll. Granted, they haven't played a stellar schedule, but they have at least managed to keep from getting bitten by lesser talent--something that Duke and Baylor can't say. At least Oklahoma's two losses are to the top two teams (UConn and UNC).

Of course, the Lady Vols have the daunting task of getting to face #6 Auburn, #3 Oklahoma, #4 Duke, plus Florida and Vanderbilt (again) over the next 6 weeks. Our girls better find some committment to defense and rebounding, and hopefully we'll be able to figure out how to put some points on the board! We'll see how all that affects the polls.

Oh, and by the way, one of the few times you'll hear me say this--Go Tar Heels. I want to see them womp some Husky butt tonight!

No good Tebow stories today? They are more entertaining than a sport that 1% of America outside of this city cares about.

Couple of points!
1) your name(GDGFP) is probably a big lie
2)if no one cares, then why do ESPN and other major channels carry so many games
3) why do so many people attend games
4) WHY DO YOU READ AND POST ABOUT IT.

Why don't you do us a favor and go back to you comic books!

Take note, Bro Kiffin and lets get this journey started back toward that place with a nice ring to it.

The lady vols are not a top 10 team, the caliber of womens basketball as a whole is down this year. Maybe next year, but not this year. I am a big lady vol fan, but I guess I have been spoiled on the other teams from the past. Go Lady Vols, prove me wrong!!!!

1) I was all right back in the day. I forgot a LV fan wouldn't know the reason behind my name.

2) Two parts here. First is that the conferences make it part of the deal in order to get the real sports - football and men's basketball. It's a negotiation tactic. If it's so good, why did CBS give up the women's Final Four a while back? Second, ESPN is a fairly liberal network that somehow feels this is a contribution to society. Plus, it's cheap filler programming for them as well besides 4 or 5 games a year.

3) What else are the senior citizens in Knoxville supposed to do on a weeknight? Can't play bingo in Tennessee! And I would look at attendance accross the country as well. Most women's basketball programs run well in the red and don't have great support.

4) I find it entertaining to see how many LV fans can get riled up over one single post.

Hey Pal, Didn't you know, no permanent residents in the world outside of the North American continent give a kitty about footbal, professional or college. Basketball is a sport without borders. The accomplishments of Tennessee's Women's coach are world acclaimed. By the way, what did everyone think of Geno Auriema's little skirmish with the Syracuse player? (after UCON whipped the Orange by 54 pts) Such an incident would never have transpired, if Coach Summit was involved-and you know the LV's have administered more than several similar beatings to opponents over the years. This smacks of the exchange between Auriema and Cappie Pondexter, Pondexter's Sr. year. Why is it Geno always seems to be at the ceter of controversy? Does he always need to put his hand on the stove to see if it's hot?

I'd prefer we stay OUT of the top 10 for a while. We are not there yet, by a long shot.

Just like the guys, we play spotty defense. When all our players 'bring it', we are pretty good. However, is Stricklen or Bjorklund are off, we struggle.

I'm not really all that thrilled with where we are at; too many injuries, and too much inconsistancy (some resulting form the injuries). Having Baugh full-time would be a help.

We might reach the sweet 16 with a favorable draw, but that's about it for this year.

I pretty much agree with most of what you said. However, I'm not convinced there really are 16 better teams than the LV's, even this season, even with the inconsistency you cite. If Baugh and Cain recover sufficiently to play major, contributing minutes by, say, the last five games of the regular season and in the tournaments, they would be a solid bet to make at least the final eight. IMHO, most of the inconsistency to date has been related to the injury situation. The healthy freshmen won't really have the "inexperience" excuse after playing a whole season against good competition. True, they will not have a lot of tourney experience, but the same could be said of several teams ranked ahead of them right now.
