Report on Warner visit discounted

A day after Rivals reported that defensive lineman Branden Warner from Compton (Calif.) Community College will take an official visit to UT this weekend, its local subsidiary dispelled the report. Warner will not take an official visit to UT because the Vols' coaches decided to go in another direction, Volquest.com reported on Tuesday.

Warner is originally from Mays High School in Atlanta, Ga. and said he would visit UT because he was interested in playing close to Atlanta. Evidently, that was before he talked to UT's coaches one last time.

Warner committed to UCLA in November but has since considered UT, Washington and Washington State.

Wonder if this means we're looking good with a high school DT so the coaches are letting this JuCo slip away? Hope so. Maybe Graves who visited last weekend?

I wish we had someone actually sign a letter before we turn another player away. Maybe UT and UNC need to meet in the middle. UNC seems to sign eveyone that stops to ask for directions and we always have better players somewhere. Hopefully this works out but we could end up getting burned.

hahaha...I said this last week...this dude is scary as hell...he may be the nicest guy in the world...but if somebody asked me to imagine the scariest guy in the world...and the winner is...Pearlie Graves!!!

So with Jeffrey, Hollins, and Graves that's 3 DTs. I would think we'd like to get at least 1 more, so I don't understand why we pulled off Warner? Was it something he did (sort of like DJ Hunter) or is there someone else that we might have an inside track on?

I know we're in on Drummond from Illinois now who is a big DE (6'5 270), maybe he's a future DT?

I just don't know why we'd pull off of him so quick. I know we're looking at signing around 25-27 players this signing period, and we're only at 16-17 right now. Why not add a solid DE? I did hear it was a possibility that Warner was just using a "free" visit to Knoxville to get a plane ticket home (he's from Atlanta) and that he is really solidly verballed to UCLA.... but I don't know.

On that link there is an article about Jefferies talking about the crowd cheering for him at the BB game.

Could somebody paste it here?

Thanks

After reading Meat Market and knowing Orgeron's evaluating tendencies i would think its either because they dont think he can qualify or his film doesnt look good enough to settle for. Especially if they feel they can get someone else.

Prob not interested in the guy b/c we have better players on the roster and already committed. This guy won't crack the rotation unless there are multiple injuries.
