Hopefully they will all have a huge impact.

real news flash: Robert Ayers was named defensive player of the game at the Senior Bowl. Looks like his NFL stock just got better. He recorded 1.5 sacks and 3 tackles. One forced a fumble and a game changing score.

How could any OC not make a positive impact on this team.Defence is in fair shape but we need to make the greatest improvement on offence.
OldNo7 writes:
The Defense was already really good, so I didn't select Monte Kiffen, I would say Jim Chaney would have the biggest impact, most room for improvement.

One day I expect to come on here and see a poll that reads 'Boxers or Briefs?' .....heck, wouldn't be any worse than some of the polls we catch on here.

Man, this poll really gets one ready for the doldrums.
How many days, Tj (oops) GerryOp?

The biggest impact will be the departure of Dave Clawson's attempt of a spread offense!!!
FWBVol writes:
I went with Monte for the simple reason I think his status as one of the great NFL D-Coordinators of all time will pull in some kids that might not have otherwise considered UT. Other than the occasional lapse with the Mustang Package, I think John Chavis did a pretty good job for the greater part of his time as DC.
However, people don't mention him in the same breath with Monte. And although he has coached guys like Haynesworth, Henderson and Darwin Walker, Monte has coached some of the greatest defensive players in the history of the NFL.
zqvol writes:
The results show how little the fans really know about the team and football in general.
Monte has 39% of the vote yet Tennessee had one of the best defenses in the country. the only reason that the team did not win 10 games last year was the offensive scheme. The only coach who needs to make an impact is the OC.

when i think about uts defense in 08 i think back too the ucla game theres no way they should have won that game but they did they kept making the same throw on every play over the middle for 9-15 yards a pop over and over drive after drive im getting depressed just thinking about it but hopefully those days are over

Well there they are. Why not an article on what does Coach Fulmer think of the new coaches? This is why the KNS is daft and vapid about it's coverage, and also why the New York Times lost business and had t olay off hundreds of employees. Consider this, with all of the so called intelligence in that newspaper and with a multitude of people in the world, why is their business going down? Where are their loyal fans? Because people are loyal to other things! Like Revolution and reform. That's why BO won on. Revolving (change) in another direction. People just want to be happy, but have forgotten what our founding fathers gave to us , namely, "the pursuit of happiness". These polls are somewhat right on in that respect, but their lack of appeal and silliness are annoying. Is is easier to round up a linch mob or to do the opposites? And by the way, I believe that Coach Fulmer is very very happy with the way things have turned out. So far so good.

IMO, anyone who didn't say the OC obviously has already forgotten our offensive output in 2008.

I voted for David Reaves only because we already had a top 5 defense (measured by Total Defense) and the QBs couldn't get much worse. Based on that philosophy, I'd also put in a vote for Frank Wilson and WRs.
Ralph_Crampton writes:
Ed Oregeron could be the stir that mixes the drink...all of the guys will be good...but ED..look out...Ed, by the way recruited all those big tough linemen for OLS MISS..the Recels have not had this good of Material in years and years and Ed knows where the Big, Quick linemen are located. Also the Rebels were ranked sixth best team at the end of year....That was Ed's material that Houstan Nutt is so happy about on the OLE MISS team during his bowl win.
GerryOP writes:
Biggest positive impact in 2009? Phillip Fulmer ... by being gone....
ColeTrickle writes:
Not only did he do that, but look at what he did with Miami in there hey-day in the early 90's. he had his hand in recruiting eight all-americans. he also played a very critical role during the USC turn around, Pete Carrol himself will give a ton of credit to Orgeron for putting USC back on the map in recuiting. the year after Orgeron joined Pete Carrol they were back in the top 5 in recruiting. He is one of the top 5 d-line coaches if not the the top d-line coach in the nation. Think of any dominant championship caliber team and it all starts with the d-line. He is as critical as anybody including Monte in helping to revive Tennessee Football. Anybody that has that kind of an impact on recruiting is automatically going to be under the radar. Anyone that dwells on that fact is just plain negative.
ColeTrickle writes:
I am more excited and positive about UT Football than I have since I was a kid. Sitting on the coach with my dad watching Johnny Majors lead his vols with the TV muted while listening to John Ward was great but his is awesome!
There is reason for Nick Saban and Urban Meyer to worry and that reason is Ed Orgeron. If we can get talent like he got at Ole Miss just imagine what he can do with a full year at UT! GO VOLS!!!
