Not knowing what he was going to do 10 minutes before making his decision Tuesday, former University of Tennessee commitment Tajh Boyd committed to play quarterback at Clemson next season.

The format for the link was cut and pasted from another story, but not all of the information was changed. It has since been corrected. Sorry for the confusion.

Boyd will have his work cut out beating out Kyle Parker at QB. Parker will either be a redshirt freshman or a sophomore. I saw Parker in a playoff game his senior year and the kid can flat out play. It should be interesting.

General, good point and he very well could. If he lands in the right system he could turn out like a Chris Leak-Pat White kinda player. We can only assume that Kiffin is holding out for next season or thinks he already has his prototypical SoCal QB.

With the addition of Oliver yesterday Tennessee's recruiting class went from 13th to 12th according to Scout.com. Maybe we will break the top 10 when this is all said and done.

jobrando#216494 writes:

Is it possible Kif just wanted to recruit his own QB and not have to live the next 4 years of Boyd being FUlmer's recruit. Everything I've read it's not difficult to get the QB under center. I just think he could have been another TEE. Going to be watching him as well as TEE with the Lobo's.

Hey Bro'! All over the bloody place. If you go to my website and click on "Seminars" and then "Register" you'll see my schedule for the rest of the first two quarters of 2009. BRUTAL! Especially for an old guy like me. I also have a new column up at www.fitcommerce.com if you want to check it out. I will only be checking in every once in awhile...but like what I've been seeing from our new coaches! Keep the Faith and Go Vols (The one and only NFL Farm Team - Knoxville, TN)!

You may be right, but the players sure do seem to like him, which is half the battle. Sometimes the guy with the worst resume ends up being the best hire, time will tell

You have to like getting athletes, I believe it is what has set the SEC apart (which other conferences are starting to figure out), but in turn, I TRULY appreciate Coach K's honesty with this young man considering the huge decisions these 17 & 18 year olds have to make. Rather have him hopefully enjoying life somewhere else, instead of frustrated with an attitude problem in Knoxville.

Former "Redneck Tech" Red Raider myself. Left the four lane many moons ago for Knoxville and haven't been back except for a couple of class reunions. Good to see some fellow Coffee Countians (former and still there) keeping the Big Orange faith.

GO VOLS from a wintry wonderland mess.

He is a very good athlete but the truth is that he is closer to 5'10" than the six foot that is being reported.
In the All Star game you are limited to the blitz packages you can run so he was basically back there shooting ducks.
I wish him well and hope he has a great career and gets an education. Go Vols!

I agree, Schofield is a great pick up. I do think a little more focus on who we get and not who we lost would be a step in the right direction. Any body heard anything on what Morgan Moses thought of his visit last weekend?

Schofield locked for sure? Where can I find that at? And I agree, Boyd was told to find somewhere else and I trust for good reason so who cares where he commits?

Volquest. Here it is. I like his comments as it relates to how we come across to recruits. Hopeful for a big day Feb 4!

There is an old adage in recruiting which says it's often hard to lead the race for a prospect from start to finish. And while at times Tennessee looked to be in trouble with Aiken, S. C., offensive lineman JerQuari Schofield, the Vols have indeed won the race for the sleeper turned four-star prospect.

"There were a couple of times after the coaching change that I was undecided," Schofield admitted. "But now, I am all Tennessee. In fact, I have shut it down, there are no coaches coming to see me, I am ready to sign. It was my childhood dream to play for Tennessee and I am ready for it to come true."

Schofield said his visit weekend around the players felt the same as his time around them in the summer. Though unsure at first about the coaching change, he has been impressed with the new Volunteers staff, which was completed less than two weeks ago.

"I like the fact that they have NFL experience," Schofield said. "They have coached the best. They are going to do things at an NFL pace and run an NFL system. As a player, that is very appealing. And I like how they have everything set up and in place for you academically. My first goal is to get my degree."

The 6-foot-6, 300-pound Schofield said he got to spend a lot of time visiting with both offensive tackles coach James Cregg and offensive coordinator Jim Chaney and was comfortable and impressed with both.

"Both were easy to talk to and ready to teach," Schofield said. "It was a good trip; everyone made me comfortable and I am ready to go to work."

Yes

Kentucky will get his last visit this weekend.
"Tennessee, Alabama and LSU are the main three now," Coach Myles said. "We will visit Kentucky this weekend and see if they can 'wow' us as well."

This past weekend Myles visited the University of Tennessee. There, they got a quick tutorial in Monte Kiffin's "Tampa 2" defense.

Not that most of your info isn't true, at least to some degree, I think only one ACC team won its bowl game this year. The league hasn't done that well in bowls for several years now. I think even you would admit that Clemson has somewhat underperformed through most of the Bowden era. I'm not saying UT has been "all that" for that period, either, but the SEC as a conference is miles better than the ACC. Not trying to be difficult, I'm just sayin'....

johnlg00#206211 writes:

BTW, I hope Boyd gets a chance to play QB and does well. He seems like a pretty good kid and a good prospect for Clemson. I admit I had to take a deep breath when CLK suggested he look elsewhere, but at least he was upfront with the kid and didn't string him along or sign him just to keep him away from possible rivals.

well, if they can't say it i will.....

clemson and the acc are a joke.

i have a friend who is a clemson grad who accurately describes clemson football....

"when nobody is paying attention, clemson wins. when people start to take notice, when clemson is about to make the jump to being relevant, when a game has a great deal of significance to the fate of the season, clemson loses."

there has been no program that has been a bigger waste of talent since 2000 than clemson.

You can say what you like about KNS coverage of the Vols, but "allegiance" to Fulmer seems like a ridiculous assertion. (Except Griff's articles, of course.)

I can think of at least one other program that could certainly give Clemson a run for their money in the "waste of talent since 2000" category.

do you want to see pictures of the attendance at the ACC championship games?

the difference in the SEC and the ACC is as vast as the difference in the atmosphere of the ACC championship game and the SEC championship game.

the league is a joke. period. sorry, to ruffle your feathers. but, it's the truth.

there are only two legitimate home fields in the ACC. clemson and florida state. when people mention blacksburg, i want to throw up. anyone ever have a problem trying to get a ticket to an ACC game?

there are 90,000 plus at fl, ga, tn, bama, auburn, lsu, and south carolina ain't exactly small.

playing a road game in football at nc state, at nc, at ga tech ain't the same as an SEC road game.

it's like trying to compare the road venues in the SEC in basketball to the snake pit arenas for the ACC in basketball.

night and day in terms of passion from the fans.

it's a second rate league. not this year, not last year, not two years ago. every year.
