News about Thigpen may not be good either. This coaching staff should be judged as recruiters in Feb. 2010, not this year but it will be nice if we can grab a couple of surprises. I am thinking we stay right about 13 or so when the rankings are done which is not bad considering.

Time to go work with what we've got. Gotta feeling our euphoria over potential recruits is coming back to reality.

From looking at the schools this kid left on his list, he must be thinking there will be too much winning going on at UT

News? These are late visitors who decided to see what the offer was. They have been recruited by other schools for a while now. I hope no one is thinking they are going to come in and sign on the dotted line after one visit. These kids are taking visits to other schools just to take a trip even though they already know who they are going to sign with. We are just hoping that we can snag at least 1 or 2 kids. We already have a top 15 class which isn't bad considering the staff is new. There will be some dissapointments and some surprises. And that's expected.

hey Everyone..KNS will start posting stories on WHO IS NOT coming to Tennessee. This is fodder for the interloping atangonists or the KNS plants for more posts. DO NOT FALL FOR IT....we have plenty of verbal commits already who are 4 stars and our recruiting class is very good so far. Feb 4 is still a long way off for a recruit. Just give it time and we'll evaluate at the end of the day.

HotlantaVol writes:
I have heard from an inside source that HotlantaVol has committed to play next year for the Tennessee Vols. Now, I know what you are thinking . . . didn't Hotlanta enroll at UT as freshman back in 1993? When asked about this, he replied: "Well, yes, but I have petitioned the NCAA for my 17th through 21st years of elligiblility. I played safety in high school but due the economy, I will be a quarterback in college (I'm so broke that for every dollar I invest in my 401k, I consider myself lucky to get a quarter back). Although I am short, fat and slow, I make up for it by being lazy and having a weak arm (and having absolutely no bounce pass skills). Otherwise, I feel I am a good fit." When asked if he was planning to try to steal Hotlanta away from the Vols, Coach Urban Meyer replied, "Who?".
StroVol writes:
don't do that anymore

I would be elated with a 7 win season next year. Let's be realistic here. We will get beat by UF and Bama. UGA will be close, but I don't think we'll be picked to win. For me, a win over the big 3 is just icing on the cake. Otherwise, I'm still happy.

All you people freaking out and getting all bent out of shape need to chill. All of these other schools have been recruiting these kids all year. Kiffin has been doing it for just over 7 weeks while trying to assemble a new staff. I think he has done a tremendous job of securing all these visits from the top talent in the country when he jumped in so game so late! Everyone should be please with our class this year... we are in the top 15 in both major recruiting services while having a major coaching overhaul! We might not get everyone we want but give these guys a break and give them some time to establish a relationship with these kids. Next year will be a top 5 class guaranteed...but don't get all pissy because a kid chose a school that had been recruiting him for over a year and we started recruiting him 2 months ago!
Gchild writes:
For some reason I thought he would pick us. Makes White and Hall all the more important. Any news on them?

Good post. Everyone needs to relax a bit. The whole "you can lead a horse to water" idea....the player still has to want to come, regardless of how aggresively we recruit them.
Kiffin and staff did great work getting so many kids to come visit who never gave UT a second thought 6 months ago. Even Saban, Carroll, and Meyer don't get everyone they want.
I don't think a top 5 class is a given next year either. The other big dogs will still recruit as well as they always have.
What we can do is recruit and develop players well enough to atleast have a fighting chance against the UFs and UAs of the world.

This is from the mouth of his own head coach....
"Michigan thinks he'll play for them as a freshman - their coach said he's good enough to play on Sundays," Craig said. "He's physically strong - he benches 400 and squats 600 now. He's a strong sucker.
"His athleticism is what makes him stand out. He can dunk a basketball. His feet are very good. And the thing that helps him is he has a lot of flexibility for a guy his size."
Washington is a four-year starter who came into high school playing tackle before moving to guard this past season."
No offense, but it will be hard to do better.... tough loss. Maybe Phillips and Schofield will help us forget about it....

I would have loved to have him...he is a very good player, but I get very skeptical when HS coaches start giving stats. Squat 600?? I don't think many people realize how heavy that is. I know he is a big kid, but squating 600 lbs. PARALLEL is pretty remarkable for any HS kid. Also, I would have to see for myself a 6'3 300 lbs kid dunk a basketball.
Not trying to be negative, just skeptical by nature.

Kiffin or not being able to find a hair restoration product that will fix that horrible eye sore!!

Thank you for posting this. It kills me to read such stupid posts. I mean one minute a horse a-- like this is begging this kid to come to K-town and the next he says the kid isn't good enought anyway or he's stupid. Anyone ever think maybe he thought Knoxville sucked?

to bad the recruits arnt as sold on the new coaches as the fans are.im not sold on the offensive side as well.
biggest misstake so far was shunning boyd, just sent a pigheaded my way or the highway message to potential recruits.
this one move cost us 5 recruits, can anyone name them?
whats even worse,i would have rather seen boyd under center than any of our q.b.s we have now.
Docrok writes:
Or maybe he realized that he may not be a 4 yr starter at TN! There are alot of factors that determine where a kid will go to school! But I dont believe that just because he did not pick UT that he is stupid or he thought Knoxville sucked
NoogaVol55 writes:
Very well could my friend...I just realize a lot of stats get inflated, espeacially in the weight room. Either way, say they bumped it up by 50 lbs. that is still a very strong kid...no matter how you look at it.
As for Washington, many think he will stay in state and go to S. Carolina....can't wait till the 4th...I am excited for everything that is going on but am also ready for the team (coaches and players) to turn their attention full time on preparing to kick some azz next fall!!!
