Teague says he still is commited to Florida

Marsalis Teague told the News Sentinel that he is still committed to Florida.

"I have not de-committed," the athlete from Henry County High School in Paris, Tenn., said in a text message.

Teague committed to Florida in December. UT, however, hasn’t given up on the 5-foot-10, 175-pound safety, who is projected to play cornerback but could also play receiver.

Teague visited the Vols last weekend and is also considering Alabama. Both UT and Alabama have made a strong push lately for him.

Only bad news recruiting wise on KNS! Even the ambiguous news is slanted toward negative. I'm going to Volquest. The KNS writers obviously don't like the new guys, or the Vols fans who come to this site.

Teague's high school football coach went to Bama so I don't see him especially rooting for his kids to attend UTK. I'm trying to remember the last Vol that came out of Henry County High School... it was a a lineman from 1998-2002 I think. Anyways it was before their new head coach came in. Dude is hardcore Bama.

yeavols#228407 writes:

There will be a lot of stories KNS will publish to get the interlopers or plants to post..don't fall for it..there are a lot more reliable news cources and sports pages that arn't as biased. We have plenty of recruits 4 stars and others and we will wind up with a good recruiting class.

He was already a FL commit and with less than two months to work with and the poor showing the team had last year the fact that he even took a visit and listened is a positive

Am psyched up about all the visitors this weekend. When all is said and done, we'll have a fair class, cobbled together by a hustling staff laying groundwork for future.

oh yeah...it would be great to get teague...just for the sole purpose of pissing of florida if for nothing else

I agree 1standGoal. There are always surprises on signing day. Some kids say they are going somewhere and then do a 180 and switch to another school. Look for at least 1 shocker or 2 on Feb 4, from any recruit at any school. We won't get what we want, but at least we got the kids to come and maybe see what they might be missing if they don't sign with us. If this kid wants to go to Florida, then have a good time. It won't make or break our team.

Wanted to say the same thing but Kat says it better....just say "No" to the interlopers....why are they here anyway? Just ignore them....not worth responding to. When you respond you are letting them dictate to you how to react...and they know you will....

Nooga..we are all at the edge of our seat waiting impatiently hitting every site and watching every text message. I haven't been this excited since I waited for Santa all hours of the night on Christmas Eve..I know..how lame..but, it takes away from the dismal season last year.

What else was he supposed to say in a text? "I'm still kinda committed to Florida" or "I might go to Tennessee". He just stating a fact. He is still a FL commit as of now. Come Feb 4, we shall see if that holds true. Everyone quit trying to read so much into a 5 word text message.

Why do some people put a kid down who doesn't choose the Vols? I mean did all of a sudden he became a worse player, some of you are like 12 years old.

One thing I have noticed since moving away from Knoxville is Tennessee Football is not very revelant outside of Tennessee. Now I think Coach LK is getting it back in the national spotlite but most people I have met ask things like "UT is the Vols right?" People need to understand this is Tennessee football 2009 not 1999. I hope things get better for the Vols but some fans need to realize this isn't Peyton, Tee and Al

Not surprised. I have heard rumors that he was more interested in Bama than UT. His mom wants him to stay close to home, but his heart is with the Gators.

Will he be " the tennessee boy" on the roster until he gets in the end zone for the first time?

Volunatic writes:

Kiffin isn't going to turn the program around just with recruiting anyway. I'm hoping he and his assistants will be able to COACH their way into a couple of wins over teams that might have more talent at the time, as well as beating all of the opponents UT is SUPPOSED to beat.
If UT outperforms like that on the field next season (we NEED 8 wins, 9 would be sweet) then this staff will have two advantages next "recruiting season" that they didn't have this season-- a full year to evaluate/recruit talent, and a proven record of success at UT.

With all respect to high school coaches, they should keep their personal opinions to themselves and let a kid and his family make their own decision. If a school is doing something illegal or just flat out lying to a kid and the coach can provide credible evidence then fine. But stay the h*ll out of the way and do not steer a kid to a school just because the coach has a love affair with it. The kid has to live with his decision, the coach just goes onto the next kid. It should be about what's best for the kid, not his high school earning points with his homestate or a certain college.

No doubt he will quote the stay the course on his commit much like our commits who are visiting elsewhere. You don't want to burn the bridge until you are certain - Only makes sense. Hate to see a good TN talent go to the dark side and hopefully he sees the light. But some just want to get away from home and experience the difference. If he goes to the Gators, he will have a good time next season. Afterwards I think not so much. After next season,I believe much more heat will be applied by a new Vol competitiveness and talent/training level.

I understand they don't teach research skills at UF, but a simple search of any recruiting (Rivals, Scout) website will answer your question....Please, in the future, don't interrupt the grown-ups with childish questions. Thank you.
