Those who haven't bought tickets by now won't be able to attend the Tennessee's football recruiting celebration on Feb. 5 at the Knoxville Convention Center.
The Knoxville breakfast event, which had 900 tickets available, sold out on Thursday. UT head coach Lane Kiffin will be on hand to discuss signees and there will be highlight tape from the previous day, National Signing Day.
The event drew 250 fans last year.
The Nashville and Memphis events sold out in 10 days, two weeks before the events. The Nashville lunch event sold 500 tickets after selling 275 last year. The Memphis event sold 650 tickets this year after selling 400 last year.
Spokeswoman Tiffany Carpenter said UT is considering expansion in Nashville and Memphis.

Foolmore never had sold out crowds.

Wow this is awesome. I wonder what the turnout for the Orange and White game will be like. It may be wishful thinking (actually it totally is wishful thinking) but I would like to see UT beat Alabama's spring game attendance record. Just another way of sticking it to Bama. Go Vols.
Orange4life writes:
dude
can you let the man have some peace.
let it go, let's hope the predecessor has as much early success
SemperVol writes:
You gotta love the SEC... 2,000 tickets sold for a recruiting celebration. Which one of you guys is gonna try to scalp 'em?
Mommasboy writes:
For some reason, I don't see us attracting a massive crowd for the orange and white game. If we had signed a Jon Gruden figure, and had been as bad as bama was, then maybe. I think Saban had alot of name recognition along with a massively STARVED fanbase on his side.
TommyJack writes:
Jim: I will attend the O&W game for the first time in about 25 years. New sheriff in town.
Mommasboy writes:
I put the over under for the orange and white game at 45,000.
jakethevolguy writes:
Anyone know how many fans were at the Bamer spring game? I know their stadium isn't as big as Neyland and we could bust them big time if everyone showed up that goes to games in the fall. Can you say "Spring time tailgating"!!
rockytoplady writes:
I am with you on this. I have already marked it on my calendar and my family will attend. I hope that TN really advertises this and includes some special events. We should go after a world's record for a spring game. I would love to beat Alabama's record. Didn't they only have 90,000? We could do it!
rockytoplady writes:
I don't know. I am a big Vol fan and I have felt pretty "starved" for success in the last couple of years. And we have been pretty bad at times. With the selling out of the recruiting presentations, the spring game ought to be a hot ticket. I wish they would come to the Chattanooga area with this.

it's rough world out there by god

there is usually a baseball game and track event the same day. i know before you could get into those free with your O&W ticket stub. good way to blow a saturday.
CHS52VOL writes:
Health allowing (cardiac problems/strokes) and God willing, I hope to be there also. Can't even recall the last O & W game I attended. A full stadium would mean half a million dollars for the University. That would be awesome!
jakethevolguy writes:
Hey Tn Vol, I hear what you're saying and I'm feelin it too. However, it has been said before and I agree, 09 may be better than we think due to the highly rated players that we already have that under achieved with the Clawfense this year. With some good coaching up by CLK and company, I think we will be alright.
zqvol writes:
Don't forget that large parts of the stadium are not going to be available. I doubt that there will 50,000 seats available. Nothing at all on the west side.
DAWGSSUCK writes:
I will be going to my first O&W game. I'll be coming from central GA.

Not at recruiting celebrations (which is what the article was about), moron.
utnoeler writes:
Im thinking of flying in from Maryland to watch the Orange and White game. Everyone should be there to support this team getting back on track. Fulmer waited too long, and we were a laughing stock last year.
I think Kiffin should see the fans in person, in the stadium for an exhibition game, so that he can truly appreciate the expectations at this university.
TommyJack writes:
Hope to see you there. Take care of that ticker and bp.
ThaiVolFan writes:
I think it is easy to see that the interest has definitely picked back up. Recruiting is going to be a very exciting thing to watch over the next several years, provided this all-star recruiting staff can stick together to really build something lasting in Knoxville. All I can say is full steam ahead.
GreerVol22 writes:
IF Kiff pulls off atop 10 class maybe 35000. Keep in mind he's charging for it this year and times are tough for the masses.
GotPearl writes:
I can't wait for the Orange and White game. I want to finally get to see the players we signed 2 or 3 years ago! The last time I went I got my program signed by Pat Ryan and Stanley Morgan!
CHS52VOL writes:
Anyone know if the exact location for the O & W game has been decided? If it is held in Chattanooga, what is the capacity of the Moc's new stadium (Finley?)? Thanks
CHS52VOL writes:
GreerVol, they are only charging $5/person. Most people would fork over that much to watch flies breed! GO VOS!
utnoeler writes:
I agree. $5 is about the same thing people are paying for value meals at McDonalds or Krystals. I dont think they have lost business lately...much better investment knowing its going to the school and to support the new direction of our football program.
johnlg00 writes:
I would be SHOCKED if that happened, but it should be one of the most interesting O&W games ever! Hope we get a good turnout and hope I can work things out to be part of it.
johnlg00 writes:
That would be a GREAT turnout by our recent standards. I would love it if we get anywhere nearly that many.
senracjr writes:
ooooooooo, 5 bucks is going to break everyone. LOL

Sure would be nice to have something in Chattanooga. Waaay too much Georgia news creeping up down here! More news on Georgia than the Vols. No Joke.

Look at Memphis stepping up to the plate. Outselling Nashville in the same amount of time. Everyone who says Memphis isn't a UT city can now have a tall, cool glass of shut the he11 up.

I will be there wearing my ORANGE proudly. Anyone else coming to the Memphis one.

Clawson? Who? I wasn't happy about the hiring of the homer Fulmeron proclaimed, "next head coach" after Foolmore retired on his own terms. ROTFLMGDMFAO!!!!!!!!!!
After all, he was Foolmore's 3rd choice as OC.
Colliervol writes:
Did Stewart Mandel or Howie Mandel write that? Heaven forbid he mention that UT is fourth in it's own conference in coach spending. Nor does he make the tie-in that Alabama is spending so much on it's head coach that they won't spend more on assistants.
Sports Illustrated isn't near the magazine it was 20 years ago. Hiring writers as lazy as Mandel is a reason why.

Z, we're just happy to see something a little different. That "working like heck to get better" thing got a little old.

I will be there with my wife and Volgraduate. Not to be the autograph loser but I do have a UT football I'd like some of those guys to sign for my office. Do you think they will do stuff like that? I haven't been in the past so I don't know.
TommyJack writes:
City High Guy: It will be at Neyland on 4/18.
jimvols13 writes:
I'm optimistic. If the university markets this event well and generates an enthusiasm among UT fans who don't always patrol this site I think we could have a very solid turnout. While I had forgotten about the impact the stadium construction might have on the game I don't think the $5 ticket price will keep many people away, after all it is all going to university academics. Who knows, all I know is that it would be neat seeing a gameday type atmosphere for a spring game. Lets all turnout and show the coaches and players the passion UT fans have for their football program.

bring the party to atlanta! lots of vols fans down here. we could sell one out too!

You meant to say successor. Fulmer's predecessor was Johnny Majors.

You mean the same Dave Clawson that is following Oscar Meyer's footsteps from Bowling Green to Utah (next) then on to U of F (or is that FU??) after Oscar bolts to Notre Dame??
