Senior guard George Drake has decided to transfer to another Division I institution in an attempt to gain a fifth year of eligibility after graduating with a Vanderbilt degree in Sociology this past May.
“After George initially investigated his opportunities of continuing his education, he decided it would be in his best interest for him to go elsewhere,” Vanderbilt Coach Kevin Stallings said.
“We fully support this decision and we wish him the best. He will always be a member of the Vanderbilt basketball family. We think the world of George and his family, and it was a pleasure to coach him in his four years at Vanderbilt.”
Drake played in 96 games in his career and started in five, averaging 3.3 points and 1.7 rebounds. Drake’s career high of 18 points came against South Carolina this past season in Columbia on January 28.
