Tennessee rising junior Boris Conkic and Serbian doubles partner Aleksander Gurbin beat Hungarian brothers Andreas and Kristian Kuharszky 7-6 (9-7), 6-7 (11-9), 10-6, in second round of the World University Games Tennis Tournament at Belgrade, Serbia.
After winning the two hour-plus match, Conkic and Kuharszky on Monday will face the winner of the match between Koreans Ye Ra Lee and Hyun Mun and Slovenia’s Matjaz Jurman and Mitja Zajsek.
John-Patrick Smith, another Vol, resumes play Monday after getting Sunday off. In third round doubles action, Smith and Australian compatriot John Peers, the No. 6 seed, face Sweden’s Alexander Milles and Alexander Thams who beat Germany’s Mario Eckardt and Klaus Jank, 6-4, 6-3.
